My Mother Has a System but Won't Use It

On top of a long pagoda's ceiling, two people were seated calmly.
"So, do you think people stop loving someone after they lose the kick? That feeling of specialness. Do you think love will always be mortal, that it will surely die one day?" A young woman asked while looking intently at Han Li with a curious voice.
Han Li was staring off into the distance with a blank gaze, he had just had another Breakthrough dream, so he was quite absentminded.
Like almost all the nights these past few days.
It was hard to focus on anything meaningless.
As for the beautiful young woman with a flowing blonde hair and chestnut eyes. Such beauties and fairies didn't mean much to him anymore.
He had grown quite weary of it all.
They were now merely his cultivation resource. His place to absorb energy.
"Love...huh?" Han Li couldn't help but shake his head.
That is something he had glossed over multiple times. Every time he bedded a woman, he had thought about it.
Every time a woman looked at him with starry and hopeful eyes, he had thought about it.
"The 'Love' that you speak about would indeed come to an end at some point. No matter how beautiful a woman is or how fairy-like her attitude is, it will happen. One day or the other, that love will fade away."
Fairy Feng Yu frowned. She hadn't expected the continent-renowned man to be such a disappointment.
Even though she knew his backstory. She thought he would be quite an intriguing man to talk with.
But Han Li wasn't over. "True Love though, is different. None of you people truly know what it is, and honestly... I don't think you can truly understand it with all of your expectations for love."
Curious, Feng Yu raised an eyebrow, "Do tell, let me see if this young one has a chance at understanding it."
Han Li smiled, remembering that cute face that gradually grew old and vanished from his grasp.
"True Love is..." Han Li paused, but then said: "It is when you wake up and find someone sleeping beside you. You might not be very attracted to them. You may know all their bad qualities, negatives, and everything undesirable about them. But still, you would and could only think, I would rather have her on my side than anyone else in the whole universe, I want her to be there. That... is love. It is not a sudden emotion that comes and goes, if it is there, oftentimes... You won't even realize it was there till you lose it."
With that, Han Li stopped speaking and once again, looked blankly up into the night sky.
It was in such days that he wished she had at least become one of these bright stars, but her cultivation was too weak for her to have ever had that chance.
On that fated night, she had died and she would never return. His mother was just a distant memory now.
But no matter, he will fight for a day to come where he will have her by his side again.
That was the reason he had become a so-called demon after all.
To kill, plunder, steal, stand up on bones, uncaring of morals or virtue with one goal in mind. Forever focused and constantly moving towards it.
Fairy Yu pondered on his words and after a long while, nodded. "It was indeed the best choice to speak about love with someone who had lost all of his loved ones. Thank you for the time, I appreciate it."
Han Li smiled wryly. "You're quite cruel for a gentle beauty."
"Not as cruel as you, am I?" Fairy Yu looked up at the sky and spread her hands widely: "But I actually admire you though. To walk on a path that seems so unattainable, you must have a mind like that of iron. That must be quite the free sensation."
Han Li was silent.
He was not so strong, in fact, he was quite weak at times. Whining over every breakthrough dream with that blank gaze.
'Ah...Mom, I wish to see you...' How many times had he thought that exact same thought?

With a tired mind, Han Li's eyes fluttered open and he instinctively scanned his He had expected the dream to be his Death day or Yue Li's Death day. But it was something entirely different; that was one of the lowest points of his life.
surroundings.
He was back in his room and sleeping under an old woolen blanket, and sleeping beside him with a silly look was a woman. His woman. His Mother.
He couldn't help but smile.
"What a good breakthrough dream..."
He had expected the dream to be his Death day or Yue Li's Death day. But it was something entirely different; that was one of the lowest points of his life.
Not clearly accepting that he was a demon, yet having to do ruthless deeds for power.
That was a point of misery for him.
Of having constant self-acceptance conversations with himself over and over again and then whining again after every Breakthrough Dream.
'But this dream was certainly short... guess my soul isn't that shaken by the Lust Spark's appearance.'
'Ah, I forgot, I am not yet as talented as my Mom and my spark should be much weaker than hers even though we are both at third Awakening.'
He could feel his surroundings much better now at least.
He calmly moved out of the bed and stretched. He also had to go meet Pang Li today, then there was Pang Li's daughter whom he had yet to acquire.
That should be quite the easy work.
But he still glanced sideways at Yue Li; she was still deep asleep with a silly grin on her face and hugging a pillow instead of him.
But both he and her were clean and well-dressed, so she had worked to clean them before hitting the bed.
Well, a nice start to another day. At least, this silly woman who had no care for the world was sleeping soundly.
He gently caressed her hair and placed a kiss on her forehead.
'I will not lose you again...'
