My Mother Has a System but Won't Use It

The man had a calm face, he wore black martial robes and on his head was short, curly black hair. His black eyes gleamed chaotically as they met Han Li's deep red eyes. They were both about 6 to 7 meters apart but both of their senses were sharp enough to easily see each other. The black-haired man frowned at the naked Han Li and moved towards him.
Han Li casually took his robes as his mind spun in all angles. The man came in front of him exactly when he got loosely dressed; his nose scrunched up at the fishy smell around the area.
"Physique cleansing to achieve the perfect mortal body, you are quite capable. Young man," the black-haired man said with a chuckling voice.
Han Li tightened his white robes and looked at him. He had probably been misunderstood to be an outsider due to his not so alike appearance to the other Starlights. Especially, his eyes. But that didn't make him relieved.
"I was just lucky to have entered my clan's inner circle and bought the 4 essential resources," Han Li said, his face reddening shyly.
The man raised an eyebrow but then asked what he was there for, "Did you see someone with a similar appearance to me somewhere? He has feathers for hair instead of the ones like mine."
Han Li's heart turned tranquil as he showed a confused expression. "I haven't seen anyone like that. And I came all the way from the west today."
Even as he casually replied, Han Li's mind was spinning. The person in front of him was no normal man, he was the Clan Head of the Ravens. Someone who was one of the three most important people in the city. A Power Born.
He looked like a youth but Han Li knew not to underestimate him. He knew this man was as ruthless as Kevin was — and much stronger. There was a chance he would be killed just for breathing in front of people like this and even though no pressure was released, he felt taut.
His life was in a thread and any time the man so desired, he would be dead without the shadow of a doubt. Power Birth Cultivators were disasters in human form, but Han Li tried to act as ignorant as possible about the man's identity. That was the best for now.
He also implied he wasn't from the Starlight clan with his words about him coming from the west. Thankfully, today he hadn't worn an actual clan robe but just ordinary white robes too. Or he might have been killed for just being a talented Starlight.
Luckily, he didn't look like a Starlight either. He had been exceptionally lucky that day. But that only made Han Li seethe inwardly.
"He was not there all the way till west?" William Raven, the casual-looking man murmured.
"But I did see people like you who had similar eyes and hair, but none of them had feathers for hair," Han Li said with a thoughtful expression.
William shook his head. That must have been junior members of the clan. Evolved all had feather-like hair or something else distinct about them. "I heard loud speaking from around here and came here to check it out, was that you talking to yourself?" he asked as he turned to leave.
Han Li shyly scratched the back of his head. "What an interesting young man." William smiled and with a chuckle, left towards the south of the forest. Going further west was useless for now.
Han Li just watched him leave and only after he moved into the green forest and vanished did he sigh in relief. But then he clenched his hands.
He had been caught off guard in this encounter. Indeed, even though these people were nothing to the old him, to the current him, they were threats. He should have cared more, and prepared more.
This encounter was not under his control. And that, was something that shouldn't happen. He breathed out and walked back home, his mind spinning with all sorts of calculations.
There was a good chance Kevin's body would be found in a short time since someone like William was out in search, but even if it was found, it was okay. There was no way an Evolved's death would be associated with a mere Awakened like himself.
No roots were left behind as a cause of trouble. Han Li walked into the city and moved towards his home. But he then thought about his current condition.
Almost no Awakened could stand against him at this point, his weapon skill was top notch, and his body was top notch too. Only his Energy Limit or in other words, talent was weaker than the best as of now. He should quickly get that needed Soul Energy from Li Yao and Evolve.
As he moved through the forest, he suddenly remembered a poem one of his women had recited in his past life.
"Living in a land of peace, you grow lethargic. Living in a land of death you grow lethargic. I wonder then, where the hell was, I wonder then where the heaven was…" He smiled. "But I know, in all hells there is heaven, just as in all heavens there is a hell."
As the morning sun moved, it was almost straight above their heads. Time was nearing noon and way past breakfast. Han Li shook his head and smilingly entered the Starlight Zone. The guard, the women on the way, some men, all of them looked at him as he passed by them. They didn't know why, but Han Li especially made their eyes move towards him.
A physique so shapely that women felt their throats dry up at first glance. An eye so deep men felt their hearts tremble at it's depth.
Nevertheless, Han Li didn't care and just walked past with a humble smile.
Reputation was a good weapon to build. People's voices might help him down the road. No reason to act arrogant and lose the hearts of others. Soon, he was back home and smiled at the sight of Yue Li and Liyue training outside without him.
They smiled instinctively in a sense of smug satisfaction at his smile. It was never the situation or predicament, not hell nor heaven, it was the person in it that mattered. One could be in heaven and still feel sad, one could be in hell and still feel happy. It was never the situation, it was always how one used it to their advantage that mattered.
Even now, he had many advantages like 500 years of memory or his mother's enigmatic system, but only if he took advantage of all of the good things would he stand a chance.
Suddenly, Yue Li and Liyue blinked in amazement. "Xiao Li…!"
They were stunned.
He looked so much different from the morning. It was the difference of stone from clay, he was still evidently Han Li but his face had no flaws. It was fair and healthy while his body emitted an innately athletic aura.
"Amazed? Surprised?" Han Li laughed. "This is how a mortal perfect body looks like, too handsome, right?"
Yue Li and Liyue moved beside him and his mother touched his chest. "So thick."
Liyue was too curious about one thing and looked at his hands unblinkingly. Han Li offered it to her and she blushed slightly as she took a hold of it. 'So firm...' she said in her mind.
"As strong as an elephant. Your husband could totally uproot trees and break down walls." He looked at her with a smirk. She looked at him confusedly, not understanding what he meant.
Smiling, he whispered something to her and she immediately stood rooted. A blush slowly coloring her face a cute red.
Yue Li saw she was looking away and checked her son's important organ. Then sighed relievedly. "It didn't grow any bigger."
Han Li pinched her cheeks. "It did grow stronger. If I was bad at using my strength, I might even hurt you accidentally by pinching like this."
"Will we also become more beautiful if we eat all the four fruits?" Yue Li asked with bright eyes. Not minding him pinching her cheeks non-stop. Liyue also blinked and looked at him with a red face. "Of course, you guys will grow more beautiful. But of course, I don't plan to give it to you any time soon."
Frowning and holding his pinching hand, Yue Li snorted. "You are not the one to buy it anyway. It's my daughter-in-law who decides if she gives it to me or not, right, Yue'er?" Liyue looked at her with wide eyes. That was what her mother called her. She had the profound urge to say yes, but then embarassedly looked away. She didn't know what to buy, nor did she have any money.
Nor did she want to go against Han Li's wish.
Yue Li sighed in disappointment, her eyes a bit wet. "Look at this poor mom, she doesn't have her son on her side and neither does the daughter-in-law stand up for her. What a cruel world."
Han Li ruffled her head. "You need at least High Proficiency in a weapon to have Top Level Mortal Physique while having full control over it. Or you will just have a lot of power with no good control. You will just break stuff with that kind of strength, it will be nothing good." He paused. "So become a High Proficiency knife user first. Or just reach my level of body with natural training instead of resources."
Had the librarian known that he had already eaten the Earth and Water type resource, he would have never given the Air and Fire type without making sure Han Li had reached 'High' proficiency.
Liyue and Yue Li looked at him with awe. That meant he was already at the High level then?
Yue Li was surprised but thinking back to the way he handled his sword and taught them, it was only normal his skills were better than theirs.
But he rarely ever trained with his sword. He only teaches or exercises his body…
My son is so talented! He reached that level with only this much training.
Had she known people at Han Li's age with Awakened High level were considered fiendishly talented people who were training at the weapons even before Awakening, from a tender age; she probably wouldn't have thought like that.
Or maybe, she still would think the same even if it was revealed he had more than just 'High' proficiency.
"Anyway, is Mother-in-law awake? I have something to do with her."
"Mother? Yes, she just had breakfast," Liyue said while pushing a stray hair away from her face.
"You guys stay here and practice, I'll come join you later."
