Chapter 23: Chapter Twenty-Three: Evil God’s Creation

Chapter Twenty-Three: Evil God's Creation

It took some time, but Twilight soon came to his senses.

As he assessed the situation, regret gripped his heart, for where the Night Wing once lay, only a pile of bones remained.

Assimilating the creature's remnant energy had reduced its body to black dust, leaving only its bones slightly intact.

Now, how was he supposed to use the summon array on the Night Wing?

If only he had known that touching the magical beast would activate his divine assimilation physique, he would have used the summon array before going near the dead creature.

But now... that opportunity was gone.

Twilight didn't even know if he would be able to find another aerial magical beast like the Night Wing anytime soon.

Unwilling to give up, he gritted his teeth and waved his hand, summoning the summon array from his bag space.

I hope this works. I hope this works. I hope this works... Twilight chanted inwardly as he unfurled the small scroll that appeared in his hand amidst a swirl of white light.

An enchanting formation was inscribed on the scroll. Its intricate lines, woven into mesmerizing patterns, exuded an air of dark, imposing grace.

A series of runes were also engraved within the array on the scroll.

Though the language was foreign to him, Twilight felt as if he could subconsciously understand them.

Realizing this, he understood that these runes formed the chant required to activate the summon array.

Holding his breath, he began to recite the chant.

Seconds later, the array in his hands glowed, and Twilight's chest tightened.

The summoning scroll was a one-use item, and he knew he was taking a great risk by using it on a mere pile of bones.

Even so, he couldn't afford to give up. Finding another magical beast as powerful as the Night Wing would be incredibly difficult.

As this thought passed through his mind, the summon scroll disintegrated, and the glowing array floated above the Night Wing's bones.

A moment later, the cold, emotionless voice of the Sovereign System echoed in his ears.

---

[You have used a Summoning Array.]

[You have two chances to create a replica of any lifeform.]

[Please note that the chosen lifeform must be at most; Level 8 and in the First Stage Magic Apostle Realm.]

[Target detected!]

[Using first attempt...]

[Attempting to create a replica of the Night Wing...]

---

Twilight's breath hitched.

'Please work. Please work. Please work...' he prayed inwardly.

However, as if mocking him, the system delivered another notification.

---

[Attempt to create a replica of the Night Wing has failed.]

[Using final attempt...]

---

For a moment, Twilight's heartbeat quickened, and his fingers twitched involuntarily.

His anxiety was palpable. Yet, as the seconds stretched on with no response from the system, his hopes plummeted.

It was clear — the final attempt had failed. Otherwise, the result wouldn't have taken this long.

Just as he was about to give up...

---

[System Notification:

[Attempt to create a replica of the Night Wing has succeeded.]

[... you have received a summon.]

---

Twilight stood frozen for a moment. Then, in the next instant, he leapt into the air, elation surging through him.

"I did it! I freaking did it!" he roared, his voice filled with excitement.

He had lost all hope, but luck had been on his side. With the Night Wing becoming his summon, he would be able to reach a checkpoint and gain the option to log out.

That way, even if he died, it wouldn't be a true death since he would be able to respawn.

But for now, if he died, his soul would be extinguished, and he would face a real death.

Once he bound himself to a checkpoint, however, his death wouldn't be permanent — though respawning would come at a steep price.

Twilight let out a sigh of relief. If the summon scroll hadn't worked, he would have definitely died of regret.

After all, due to misusing his physique, he almost threw away the perfect chance of getting a powerful summon.

Pushing his emotions aside, he turned his attention to the beast crystal lying on the floor.

Without hesitation, he picked it up. Unlike when he had touched the Night Wing's corpse, no system notification appeared, leaving him confused.

'Why isn't it working? Do I need to do something specific? Or does my physique only work on corpses?' Twilight speculated.

After a moment of contemplation, he relaxed and sat cross-legged on the marble floor.

His physique was special, but since it couldn't assimilate the energy within the beast crystal, he would absorb it the way every other cultivator did.

Closing his eyes, Twilight attempted to sense the spirit qi within the crystal.

Yet, minutes passed, and he felt nothing.

That was when realization struck him — maybe there was no spirit qi within the beast crystal at all.

It didn't seem possible, but as a cultivator, sensing spirit qi was supposed to be second nature.

Even if he couldn't absorb it, he should have at least been able to sense it.

The fact that he couldn't meant one of two things — either the crystal contained no spirit qi, or he was still too inexperienced to perceive it.

'Damn it!' Twilight cursed inwardly, clenching his fists in frustration, only to inadvertently crush the beast crystal.

'Wait. What?'

Twilight nearly choked on air. Had he just miscalculated his own strength and accidentally destroyed his first-ever beast crystal?

That was... embarrassing.

Before he could dwell on his mistake, the Sovereign System's emotionless voice rang in his ears.

---

[System Notification:

[Divine Assimilation Physique Activated.]

[Assimilating spirit qi from beast crystal...]

[You have received 850 qi experience.]

---

Just as Twilight was about to speak, he felt an intense surge of power and his spiritual energy reserves nearly tripled in an instant.

'Breakthrough,' Twilight thought, dazed.

'I broke through... just like that.'

If any cultivator saw how quickly he advanced, they would probably die of envy.

His godly cultivation speed was all thanks to his physique. And no matter what, he couldn't let anyone discover this secret.

Taking a deep breath, Twilight stood up. Now that he had taken care of the essentials, it was time to choose his class.

He knew he couldn't afford to delay such an important decision.

However, just as he called upon his system interface, a deep, resonant sound echoed through the hall.

Twilight turned toward the source and saw a section of the wall shifting.

A dark room was then revealed beyond.

Before he could make sense of the situation, a large, pale-skinned humanoid with horns stepped out of the darkness.

A sudden pulse of energy surged through Twilight's eyes.

---

[Activating Innate Ability: Omniscient God's Eye.]

[Locking onto target...]

[Target locked.]

[Revealing accessible information...]

[Name: Ashahell]

[Race: Deadling]

[Status: Deadling Lord — Level 19, Tier 0 Monster]

[Life Points: 76,900]

[Cultivation Base: Sixth Stage Magic Warrior]

[Basic Description: A humanoid race known for their incredible strength, speed, and heaven-defying potential.]

[Advanced Description: Ashahell is one of the Great Twelve of the Deadling race. His power is not to be underestimated.]

[Lucky Information: The Deadling race was created by the Evil God, making them feared by many. Deadlings are talented in all aspects.

Beware — they are fiercely vengeful and will stop at nothing for revenge. Ashahell, in particular, stands at the very peak of the Deadling food chain, capable of battling beings stronger than himself.

However, due to being sealed for an extended period, his cultivation base and tier have been greatly reduced. He will recover over time.]

---

Twilight's expression darkened.

'How is this possible?'

He had read about the Deadling race before — accidentally coming across information during his time in the outskirts.

Deadlings were immensely powerful. But they were rumored to never leave their homeland — the Deadlands.

And the Deadlands was a dead zone in the Astral Realm.

In fact, it was a very deadly one, ranking near the top of dead zones, almost reaching the forbidden land standard.

If there was a Deadling in this hall, that meant this building was in the Deadlands.

And if that was true...

He was doomed.

Before he could begin to panic, Ashahell's cold smirk sent a chill down his spine.

"You're the one who killed that despicable bat and freed me from my seal. You have my thanks," Ashahell said.

"I'll make your death swift."

'Oh... no.'
