Chapter 4The Car at the Cafeteria Doors

She had been reborn for a month now, and had chosen a completely different path from her past life.

Comments started complaining again.

I came to watch the male and female leads have sweet campus romance. How did it turn into them fighting every day? Without money, where's the sweet romance for us to watch?

Reagan irritably turned her head to the side and suddenly spotted me. Her back immediately straightened. Her furrowed brows smoothed out. The corners of her mouth lifted in that usual confident smile. Her eyes, looking at me, carried traces of expectation.

I admired my newly purchased watch, walking slowly right past Reagan, casually glancing at the cafeteria tray. Frowning in disgust before calling to Harper Sinclair.

"Let's go eat off campus."

Seeing Harper Sinclair nod, I strode right past Reagan, not bothering to glance back, walking straight out of the cafeteria.

The confidence on Reagan's face shattered. After I had gone far, she abandoned Callum, running after me and shouting, "Vincent Dante, why won't you let me finish?"

The rest of her words, when she saw the Porsche Cayenne outside the cafeteria, died in her throat.

The luxury car parked prominently, blocking the cafeteria entrance, as if deliberately showing off. Many students looked on with envious eyes.

Reagan sighed softly, somewhere between laughing and not. "So, you wanted to surprise me. But I don't like showing off like this. Don't do it again next time, okay?"

I remembered the past life. This exact car was what Reagan drove searching for her childhood sweetheart, then died in that accident.

That's right. In the past life, this car was meant to be a graduation gift for the female lead. Never expected that in this life, he'd bring it out earlier than planned. Our female lead will forever belong only to the male lead. How could she waver over just a car? The face-slapping climax is coming up.

Reagan clearly loved that car. In the past life, she had driven it countless times through the capital's streets and alleys, drawing so many envious stares. She habitually opened the car door.

But the butler sitting in the driver's seat shouted, "This is my employer's car. The young master gave it to Miss Sinclair. Why does everyone want to climb in?"

Reagan's hand jerked back like she had been shocked, frozen in place. The young lady's bearing that had vanished now returned all at once. She lowered her voice.

"Uncle Wang, this car is mine. Have you forgotten that?"

In the past life, this car truly was hers. But what about now?

I laughed coldly, quickly opening the car door, getting inside with Harper Sinclair, then decisively slamming it shut. Reagan hurriedly pulled her hand back. She nearly got her fingers crushed.

Through the glass window, I looked her up and down with contempt. "Reagan, you should fix that habit of thinking everything that belongs to others is yours. This car is a gift for my girlfriend. What does it have to do with you?"

In Reagan's eyes, I had always been an arrogant young master, so naturally my words had to be sharp and merciless. The joy that had just sparked in her heart was completely extinguished by me.

Reagan's eyes darted quickly toward me, whispering doubtfully. "Isn't this car supposed to be for me? In my past life, I drove it for two straight years."

She had been reborn this long and was still living in the past. What she had despised in her previous life had now become flowers in a mirror, the moon in water, forever beyond reach.

Comments also fell silent, stunned.

What's happening here? Dante doesn't seem to like the female lead at all. The female lead's rebirth is completely useless. Thought we'd get to watch sweet romance. In the end, just half a month in and they fought sixteen times. Was hoping for the female lead to slap the second male lead. Never expected the female lead to keep getting slapped instead. Everyone says Young Master Vincent Dante won't let Reagan go, but from what I see, clearly it's the female lead who won't let go of the second male lead.

I pulled my gaze from the comments. I'm the eldest young master of the Sterling family, raised in silk and luxury since childhood. How could I possibly be chasing after a girl with nothing special about her? If she thinks not confessing to her sweetheart in the past life was her life's greatest regret, then in this life she can make up for it completely.

The car shot forward with one press of the gas. From a distance, I could still see Callum gripping Reagan's hand, shouting loudly, while Reagan stood frozen, staring after the car's tail lights, letting him curse and yank her arm, unable to pull her attention back.

I pulled out my game console, playing while complaining to Uncle Wang. "Driving straight into campus like this is too showy. The school administration's going to call me in for another talk."

Uncle Wang quickly nodded. "Yes, yes. Next time I'll wait for you at the campus gate, young master. Oh, right, young master. Since you don't have a girlfriend yet anyway, why not consider that arranged marriage with the Sinclair family?"

I glanced at Harper Sinclair, who had come along for the ride, and responded irritably. "I don't want an arranged marriage with a stranger."

Uncle Wang was stunned. "She's not a stranger. You and Miss Sinclair have known each other forever, young master."

When he said that, Harper Sinclair curled up in the back seat, shrinking like a baby bird.

In our social class, arranged marriages were set in stone, to bind two families' interests together and increase their ability to weather risks.

Later, sitting in a private room at the bar, I thought about it again. In my Instagram messages, there was still a text from my father.

Kid, seeing you and the Sinclair girl get along so well puts Dad's mind at ease. If it works out, get engaged first. If not, we'll find someone else. Keep switching until you're satisfied. As long as you're happy.

In that moment, I realized I truly was a spoiled brat. Casually playing with other people's emotions, living life too recklessly.

Harper Sinclair awkwardly explained to me. "Dante, I only heard you wanted to find a poor student to date. So I dressed down a bit. But I hadn't done anything yet. I just found you in the crowd, and you shoved a black card into my hand, then told me to be your girlfriend. I never expected happiness would come so fast."

She said she had tested into my school just to confess feelings she had hidden for years. She never expected I'd end up supporting her first. Different process, but the result turned out right.

I asked coldly. "So you're actually rich too. All our dates and fun, we've been using my black card."

She quickly shook her head. "No, I haven't touched the black card. When you gave it to me, you didn't tell me the PIN."

Didn't tell her the PIN. I awkwardly took back the black card, then quickly tucked it into my own pocket.

Comments had been exploding nonstop, filling the screen.

Why has this life deviated so much from the main plot? I remember in the past life there was this arranged marriage too. But didn't Dante use having a girlfriend as an excuse and refuse it outright?

The server pushed open the door, bringing in drinks, breaking the awkward atmosphere.

Four eyes met. The drink tray clattered to the floor.

The person before me was shocked at first, then furious. "Dante. A man and a woman alone in a private room like this. What are you doing here?"

Reagan stood right at the door, wearing a deep red vest. Just like the comments said, she had found a part-time job, serving drinks at the bar.
