Chapter 10Ice Underfoot

After everything Jake had done for him, Franklin was ready to fight for his friend to the last. As a result, the guild leader was left with only a few trophies, which were quite rare. Now the number of teams was equal, and the hero finally managed to regain his strength. Sally and Roy were ready to avenge Jeremy, even if they ended up dying after him.

But they turned out to be not so loyal. So they soon showed their backs to the enemy. The guys didn't even think about fighting together against such strong players, who destroyed everything. So soon there were no enemies left on the hero's path who were ready to fight him. The friends were happy about this, although they missed the opportunity to get even more resources from their opponents.

Their raid would end with several secret tokens, which is what this journey was all about. Robert wanted to honestly return some of the tokens to his friend, since they had agreed on this in advance. But Jake wasn't greedy and left almost everything to his ally, because he only needed one. The guy chose the profession that was most suitable for him, and that was enough for him.

Franklin was almost overcome by such generosity, but he stopped himself in time. Many players were ready to kill for secret tokens, and the hero gave them away for free. So it was no surprise that everyone in the guild wanted to permanently accept him into the team, but Robert knew that Jake would refuse anyway, so he just paid him a large sum.

As a result, in just one day of play, Romero earned more than his parents earned in a year. The guy couldn't believe his luck, because initially they had a completely different agreement, but Franklin did not like to remain in debt, since in this cave they had received many ordinary tokens. Moreover, Jake had shared with the guild a couple of secret ones that were worth even more.

So Robert was confident that his management would approve of such a wasteful decision. If it weren't for Romero's stunning victory over Rams, the entire company would have been left without any awards. That's why Jake deserved such a large sum, which is what the guy was most happy about. In fact, Sarah was unhappy that Romero never joined their guild.

But the girl had personal motives, so Robert did not take her words into account. Franklin was already glad that Jake had become a good ally for them and not a dangerous enemy. Out of curiosity, the hero decided to fully explore the cave, which was becoming increasingly colder. He was still too low-level to notice the ice trap in the floor in time.

So soon the young man was left without friends right in the middle of an unknown and cold territory. But this wasn't even the most frightening thing, because soon the hero heard a suspicious movement. A mutant with such a high level appeared right in front of him that Jake had no chance of winning. In this situation, only a miracle could save Romero from certain death, because he could not cope alone.

This monster was not only many times stronger, but also more evil than all those the hero had met before. Only at the last moment did the guy escape the deadly attack. But he never moved from the spot. Romero's skills further angered the creature, which did not like humans in its territory. If Jake hadn't gone on this exploration, he could now be calmly returning with his friends.

The last thing Romero wanted in the world was to die, because he had many rare things with him. The only option left for the guy was to change classes, since then his abilities would increase. But suddenly a beautiful female voice rang through the cave and began singing some song. Romero didn't miss the fact that the monster instantly froze in place, as if someone was holding it back.

The song was a powerful attack that pierced the air and struck the enemy mercilessly. As a result, the boss suffered such powerful damage that he died after the first hit. It was the first time in his life that the hero had seen someone use such terrifying attacks. It turned out that Lunali had come to his aid, and she also did not want the young player to die.

But the girl never helped just like that, because she had her own reasons for everything. So now the hero had to dodge several of her blows to avoid losing. But Day had just slain with one blow a monster that the hero could not yet defeat. Still, the young man had several saving moves that helped him dodge the attacks.

True, their effect was limited. So Jake would not have survived this fight for long. Seeing Lunali's skills, the boy felt such intense fear that he was ready to flee. The girl not only moved very quickly, but also possessed an excessive amount of strength. It was clear that she only wanted to scare Romero, otherwise she wouldn't have saved him.

In fact, Lunali had appeared to give the hero another secret token. Day picked the strongest class. But in appearance, this profession really wasn't anything special. Since Romero was under Lunali's surveillance, the boy had no other choice. The girl had already taken all the other tokens from Jake, so that he would choose hers. It was not without reason that Day chose the hero, because he emanated a special and happy aura.

So she believed that Romero would reach great heights in this gaming dimension. Lunali knew that in reality the boy's body was on the verge of life and death. But Jake knew for sure that he had never told anyone in this world about what was happening to him. But Day was in no hurry to reveal her knowledge. Just as she did not plan to harm Romero.

The girl insisted so strongly on his changing profession that the hero could not help but agree. As soon as he accepted the new class, the young man felt a surge of energy throughout his body. Now he was not just a player, but a real bard. Although outwardly nothing much had changed. Like all guys, Jake had always dreamed of powerful attacks that would kill with the first blow.

Only Lunali forgot to tell the hero that bards were just a support class. Thus all the hero's dreams of powerful blows were shattered in an instant, due to the deception of his mentor. Of course, the girl would not leave Romero without everything. So she agreed to teach him the skills. However, the boy was still unhappy, because the mentor had essentially deceived him.

Moreover, Lunali never did anything for free. So the hero had to give something up again. And this time Day took a very good sword, on which Romero had placed great hopes. No matter how much the hero was indignant, what could he do against such a strong character? So the guy could only hope that Day's skills would actually be good.

In just a few minutes he received four abilities that needed to be developed. But even at the initial stage they were so helpful that all of Jake's doubts disappeared. Lunali was right when she promised that with the bard class Romero wouldn't get lost anywhere. Soon Day had to leave, as she still had a lot of things to do throughout the game world.

Once the girl had disappeared, Jake finally noticed his surroundings in the cave. That's how the guy accidentally found another token with a profession that Robert would like. In fact, Lunali had only hidden her presence. Although she remained close to the young hero, the girl was used to being good at reading people's futures, but Romero constantly surprised her. At that moment, the guy did not yet know what heights he could reach thanks to his efforts.
