Chapter 6Where the Bats Sleep

A little later, Romero finally came to his senses, because he had to complete a new test. The boy remembered that in the monster chat something was said about bats from the cave, but he couldn't even imagine that one of the mice was hiding one of the rare and hidden profession tokens. Leika had very little information about this cave, but she was happy to tell him everything.

As a small non-player character, the assistant knew only the basic details about bats. Personally, she had always been interested in what kind of tokens this large community of monsters might hold. Leika had no doubt that her master would eventually receive the best and most profitable profession. However, the guy didn't have such confidence, since before he hadn't stood out in any way.

There wasn't much written about the token in the monster chat, so the hero would have to improvise on his own. Romero wasn't afraid of such difficulties, because in reality he faced much more serious problems. Many players had already crowded around the entrance to the cave, eager to get their rewards. Unlike the others, the young man was in no hurry to join a group with anyone to clear the cave.

He had seen many guilds fail because they couldn't get through the mice. So it was no surprise that Jake was soon asked to join in on a raid, but the guy, as usual, refused, since he trusted only his own strength when it came to fighting. The hero walked boldly through the portal, not paying attention to the people's glances at his back.

Romero tried to look around carefully, as the mice liked to attack unexpectedly. He was eager to try out a new weapon that could accidentally cause massive damage. And just at that moment, one of the bats noticed the guy. So the battle began. Romero managed to dodge in time the attack of his opponent, who had tremendous speed. The boy had good reason to hone his speed and agility, as these skills were useful when he was alone.

There was not a drop of fear in the hero's eyes, as he was completely confident in his abilities. His new weapon really did deal so much damage at once that the hero didn't have to worry about winning. Jake was right to rely on his speed, as all the mouse's movements were clearly visible. So Romero's victory was only a matter of time, since his enemy had greater health.

But gradually the mouse gave up its position, since it could not hit the hero in return. The young man became increasingly happy that he was winning this difficult battle so easily. If it weren't for the new blade, the guy would hardly have dealt with the huge mouse so quickly. Even when the system sent a notification about the elite boss, Jake still wasn't scared.

He believed in his abilities. So he didn't worry even if there were too many mice. The only thing that bothered Romero about this situation was that secret tokens would not drop from such enemies. But suddenly a small mouse appeared behind the backs of the huge mice, which attracted the hero's attention. Jake immediately guessed that this was the creature that would bring him the very token he desired.

While the hero was fighting a huge number of mice, the rest of the cave was almost free. So the players walked calmly around the cave, thinking that the enemies were hiding in fear. They had no idea how far from the truth they were, until they saw Romero fight. No one could have imagined that that single player would take on so many mice at once.

But the hero held his position well, although these mice would have easily killed most of the players. He wasn't bothered by the difference in skills, because Jake had acquired something incredibly valuable. Once the blade reached full power, the players couldn't believe their eyes. Due to the random damage increase, Romero destroyed almost all of the mice in one hit.

But that same little bat suddenly started to fly away rapidly. Jake didn't want to let her go, but his way was blocked by unexpected admirers after the fight. As a result, the guy was unable to achieve what he wanted, even though the mouse was very close. The players had no idea how much they had distracted Jake from his important task.

As a result, this time the mouse calmly flew away into the depths of the cave, keeping the secret token with itself. Meanwhile, Romero barely escaped his pursuers, who dreamed of becoming his students. The hero wasn't too upset, since he still had rewards for defeating the boss. Finally, the guy received the first token, which allowed him to obtain the archer profession.

Even the fact that this class wasn't secret already made Jake happy, because the search could continue. Since the cave was too big for him alone, the guy decided to seek help. His friend just wanted to earn resources, and Romero could provide protection. Robert immediately offered a good reward for this help, since he himself would not have gone into the cave.

But this time Jake was modest and made a discount, because he would still need cooperation. The hero's only condition was that he would keep the hidden class tokens for himself to use. Franklin did not put up much resistance, since this division was indeed fair. Knowing the head of the Immortals guild, he would soon have to meet the hero in person.

At the same time, in reality, the head of a huge corporation was ready to kill Jake for his game. The guy had invested so much money into the Invincibles guild, and Romero had killed all the players. So far, the young man had no concrete plan on how to finally break his strong opponent. His assistant desperately searched for a way into the cave, because bats were dangerous opponents.

Jeremy Price went out of his way to recruit the strongest player in other games to his side. And soon his assistant managed to negotiate with Agro Rams to help them in the war with Jake. This news greatly pleased Jeremy, who would not have dared to go against Romero alone. At that moment, the hero had just met with his allies Sarah and Gray, who had been brought by Robert.

The guys arrived so quickly that Jake didn't even have time to get bored while waiting for them. Romero was thrilled by the prospect of earning some money that would translate into real life. Moreover, the company was small, since the rest of the guild did not meet the required level. Sarah was the first to show curiosity about the boy on whom Franklin had placed so much hope.

While Gray didn't believe that such a puny player could really help them, Jake had nothing to say in response, since he didn't like to prove he was right. Fortunately, Robert came to the hero's aid, having no doubts about his partner's potential. It was so quiet and calm in this cave that the boys hardly looked around, and only Romero sensed in time the attack of the mice, which always arrived unexpectedly.

At the last moment, the guy managed to protect his allies, because he did not want anyone to die. Bats were difficult opponents for many. Although people were accustomed to underestimating them, Jake had a good idea of his own abilities, so he could only hope that his friends wouldn't let him down. The hero made the first few battles demonstrations, so that Robert would remember how to fight.

In a few minutes he dealt with a large number of mice, as he dealt good damage. If it weren't for the rare blade, the young man would hardly have fought so well against the monsters, who were distinguished by their dexterity. But fate turned out in such a way that the hero was lucky with the weapon. So he almost didn't have to strain himself.
