When Akutagawa went outside, Guda hugged him and said hello, and asked, "So, are they going to rest?"
Night had fallen. A bright moon shone in the sky, and several knights fell to the ground. Guda asked, "Are these fighters from a high-level dungeon?" They were just temporary guards, until the guild members were sent. Toida asked how they were doing there anyway. Trespassing in a dungeon like this was illegal.
Guda asked, "So why do you think they need him?" If anything went wrong, it would be Akutagawa's fault. But if everything went well, and he was accepted into the guild as promised, they'd forget about him.
Akutagawa was surprised. Would Guda really do something like that?
Toida chuckled at the situation and said, "That's crazy." She had only come to play with Akutagawa. Guda asked her to calm down, because she knew the monsters got stronger with each floor, right? If it became dangerous, they'd go home. But with the loot and the experience they could gain here, they needed a good debut, to become stars. He wanted to be like Mitsumiya Isamu.
At that moment the guys stopped, and Akutagawa looked around. A strange-looking slime had appeared near their feet and was spreading across the entire floor. Igarashi turned to Akutagawa and asked if he'd try it. They could be killed with bare hands. He thanked him for it and said he'd refuse, because he didn't like slime. Toida asked again — what had a slime ever done to him?
Guda asked them not to get distracted, because they'd clear everything out here and then move on. A moment later he struck the slime with incredible force, and then suddenly froze and realized that something was wrong.
A strong wind appeared in the dungeon and everyone began to cover their faces. Akutagawa was very surprised by what was happening and asked, "What?" Something incredible appeared, and Toida screamed, "What is it?" The guys were very scared. They had never seen anything like it.
Guda said that they didn't care. Since this monster was on the first floor, it must be weak. They'd kill it quickly and move on. He swung his magic and shouted loudly at the monster, and a moment later there was a bright flash of light, which surprised him greatly. Akutagawa realized that it had easily parried an attack from a ranker, which meant the monster was quite strong. Toida watched in horror, and Igarashi asked, "Is this a joke?"
The monster began to spin several swords in the air and use them all at once. And a moment later it began to attack. The monster hit Akutagawa in the cheek, but he managed to dodge slightly, and an explosion occurred a moment later. All the guys tensed and began to turn in different directions as the monster went on performing various attacks.
Guda fell to the ground, unsure what to do, shouting, "What are you waiting for? Cover me!" Toida and Igarashi were terrified, and Guda explained that with a ceiling like that he couldn't use his full strength. Akutagawa stared silently at the monster, and then suddenly the monster looked him in the eye.
Toida swung at the creature from above and tried to attack, but she missed and landed right next to the monster. Igarashi exclaimed in fear, "What's going on here?" He tried to destroy the enemy with his own strength, but the monster kept moving from place to place, making it impossible for anyone to hit it. Igarashi was terrified and unsure what to do.
And Guda thanked them for buying him time. He rose from where he was and, swinging a magic ball, shouted, "Die, you bastard." Then he aimed several magic balls at the monster, and the guys grimaced in anticipation. A moment later a thick dust filled the room and Guda asked, "Do you like it?"
Suddenly the monster emerged from the dust and attacked him with magic spells. He didn't understand what was happening. This monster clearly wasn't from the first floor. Wait — why wasn't it attacking Akutagawa? He alone was fully unprotected. The monster hadn't even approached him.
Akutagawa wondered whether it was probably hunting for magical power and attacking them deliberately. They asked what he was talking about. Then, since he was powerless, it wouldn't attack him.
Guda shouted that everything was bad. He had to help, and then they could finish off the monster together.
Akutagawa wondered: should he save him? Save him, after everything he'd done to him?
Guda shouted that he was apologizing to them. He'd been too cruel, and now he was begging for help.
But Akutagawa thought only that he was a narcissistic jerk. He lifted him in his arms and realized that he would be no different from him if he didn't help him. He shouted that there was still time. He shouldn't attack from the front, so he should aim for the side of its head.
Guda smiled and said what an idiot he was. At that moment Guda asked if he really thought such a worthless guy as himself could become a hero — as though he'd been born brainless, let alone without abilities. He was a born clown. Those without abilities have no right to dream of becoming heroes.
At that moment the monster struck Akutagawa straight in the chest with its sword, and his blood spilled.
