The Silver Knives Under Her Wedding Wool

Synopsis

Duke Aldus has three legitimate daughters, all safely married. He also has Gwen, the bastard he keeps in a hunting lodge because she kills the things in the dark better than his garrison does. So when the wolf king demands grain, iron and a bride of noble blood to seal the treaty, Aldus sends her up the pass in white wool with silver strapped under the skirt and one command: get close, wait for him to shift, cut his throat. But the king gives her the bed and sleeps on the stone floor, and the first thing to come through his gate is not the monster she was sent to kill.
