Stale smiled, impressed by her magnanimity.
Tiara, though, asked Pride whether she was a burden to her. Pride explained that she only wanted to protect her precious sister. She took both Tiara's hand and Stale's hand and told them how much she loved the two of them, and how she wished to live happily with them forever.
Sometime later, Stale and Arthur were about to begin another training session when Arthur was surprised by Tiara and Pride arriving to watch.
After the sparring was done, Pride brought over some flower crowns that she and Tiara had made, and presented two of them that she had chosen especially for the boys. She gave her compliments with her whole heart, and both of them blushed furiously under the attention.
Then they realized there were not enough flowers left for Pride, so both boys put their crowns on her head.
Pride smiled and gave each of them a flower to pin in his hair instead, and shared her crown with her little sister.
Afterward, Arthur said his goodbyes to Pride and the rest, since he had his knighthood exam to prepare for. Pride was thirteen years old now, and happy to have settled into her new life.
Two years after that, Arthur completed his knight training and passed his exam, and was awarded his knighthood by Pride herself.
Much more grown up now, Arthur kissed his sword. He had finally fulfilled his promise to become Pride's guardian.
Later, Arthur met up with Stale, who seemed to be in a bad mood because somebody had told him his smile looked like Gilbert's. Arthur chuckled at that, and then gave Stale a gift. As he opened it, Pride and Tiara came in, and everyone saw that Arthur had brought him a pair of sunglasses.
They were curious about why he would pick that, and Arthur told them it suited the mature Stale.
The children were interrupted by Gilbert, who had come to visit Pride. He asked for her help with a specific matter, which only confused her, and then her father Albert popped out of nowhere and dragged Gilbert off.
Pride explained to Stale afterward what it was about. Gilbert was trying to pass a law that would allow the royal family to track down and monitor particular power users. The law struck her as invasive, and she had rejected it.
Then she thought about something, and asked Stale to take her to where Gilbert was.
They teleported to a spot outside a room where Gilbert could be heard arguing with Albert. Gilbert was mocking him for ignoring a royal law and allowing Stale to visit his birth mother — which Albert had done because Pride had begged him for it, day after day.
Listening outside, Stale was shocked to learn that Pride had done such a thing for him.
And then he heard Gilbert's voice change and turn sad. Ever since seven years ago, someone close to Gilbert had been ill, and all this time he had been searching for a person with healing powers for her sake.
Hearing it, Pride finally remembered the rest of the game. Gilbert had the power of eternal youth, and the evil Pride had forced him to look like an older man for the rest of his life. That cruel queen had accepted Gilbert's request to track down people with special powers, too — but she had only enslaved them for herself, and killed anyone who resisted her.
The nightmare of it woke Pride from her sleep.
She remembered something more: that Gilbert's fiancée had died soon after the law was passed. She walked outside her room, thinking about what she should do, and a commotion in the palace disturbed her.
Albert told her that Gilbert had left the castle.
Pride thought back, and realized something about the woman she had been in the game. The evil Pride would never really have listened to anyone's opinion before making a rash decision. Which meant the law had been passed at once — which meant Gilbert's fiancée must have died on the very same day. She had only until sunset.
Pride asked Stale to teleport her to Gilbert.
Elsewhere, Gilbert stood surrounded by a crowd of hooligans. He asked the men whether they knew of any healers, and they laughed at him. He offered them wealth, and then even secrets about the royal family, and they laughed again. They were far more interested in his money, and they attacked the nobleman for it.
Gilbert was a noble, but he could defend himself. It was the sheer number of them that put him in danger.
Pride and Stale arrived just in time and put every one of the men down.
Stale faced Gilbert, and Pride told him what she had foreseen: the death of his fiancée. It devastated him, and all of his memories of her came back at once.
Maria was the young daughter of a count. She had always been sick and bedridden, and she would sneak out of her house to spend a little time outside. It was during one of those escapes that she met Gilbert.
Gilbert took the sweet young lady to a gorgeous view outside the city, and there the two of them fell in love. From then on he met her regularly.
Then one day he learned that Maria was engaged. It broke Gilbert's heart, but Maria told him that he was the one she truly loved. So Gilbert worked and worked until he had made himself chancellor of the kingdom, and then he went to Maria's house with a proposal her family could not refuse.
Shortly after they were engaged, Maria fell very sick, and it shattered him completely.
While Gilbert stood remembering all of this, Stale pointed a sword at his head for the crime of selling out the royal family. Gilbert fell to his knees, and Stale tore into him without mercy, and into his poor fiancée as well.
Pride stepped in and stopped him. Her kind heart could not help but feel for Gilbert's situation. She thanked Stale for watching over her, and then she comforted Gilbert with the news that both he and his fiancée were forgiven.
Later, in the castle, Tiara met Pride and asked her about the situation with Gilbert. They were still talking when Gilbert burst into the room in a panic, screaming for Pride's help.
She ran. She had Stale teleport her to the knights, and there she found Arthur and asked him for an enormous favor. Pride was worried about asking him to take a step that would change his life, but the knight was willing to die for her sake, let alone this.
She turned around and saw an older version of Stale standing there. There was no time to ask about it. She had him teleport them to Gilbert.
They arrived in a room where a very sick Maria lay on the bed. Pride told Arthur to lay his hand on the dying woman, and then told him the truth: his power was not growing crops. His power was healing living creatures.
Gilbert watched the color come back into Maria's face and watched her rise from the bed. The two lovers held each other, and the whole thing had been saved by Pride's knowledge of what Arthur would one day become.
Later, Pride learned that Gilbert had transformed Stale into an adult version of himself so that he could run faster.
Gilbert thanked Pride for saving his dear lover, and confessed every one of his sins to her. Pride asked whether he was ready to confess those sins to her parents as well, and then told him that she would rid him of his guilt. She asked everyone in the room to forget everything they had seen and heard concerning Gilbert, which shocked him.
He wondered aloud whether he had been forgiven. Pride told him she did have a punishment for his grave crimes.
She ordered him to go on living with his immortality, and to go on working as the faithful chancellor of the country. That was the sentence, and her mercy drove him to tears. Pride knew that Gilbert could live forever, and that if he chose to do so, he would be a great asset to the kingdom for all of it.
Gilbert accepted happily and vowed to keep his promise. Pride seemed a little apologetic about the punishment; Gilbert did not mind it at all.
Instead he did something that neither of Pride's two admirers had ever managed. He kissed her hand, and then he kissed her foot and her leg, an ancient custom for showing complete loyalty.
Arthur and Stale watched him perform it on their lovely princess with jealousy and envy.
