In a luxurious loft elsewhere in the city, the same traitors were staying.
Samo examined the room carefully for hidden microphones or traps. Nothing was found. The red-haired man sat comfortably on the sofa and asked what the plan for the future was.
Yanshi was standing in front of a mirror, adjusting his clothes. He said the school leaders had just contacted them. They wanted their team to take part in tomorrow's high school selection tournament. Now that Yan Hanu had been accepted as dead, the school needed someone to step up and raise people's morale.
The rest of the team listened quietly. Yanshi told them that when the time came, they only had to keep their emotions under control; he would take care of the rest.
Then the snake handler suddenly noticed something. The tournament was tomorrow, and yet Yanshi was already dressed very stylishly, as if he were specially prepared to go somewhere.
Yanshi stopped, looked at him and said nonchalantly that it was a date.
Somewhere else in the city, there was a photograph on a table. Yan Hanu and a beautiful woman.
The woman in that living room was watching the news on the television. The same story was being repeated. According to the principal members of the Divine Rhino Corps, the death of Captain Yan Hanu had taken place in the SSS-grade dungeon, the Scythe Abyss.
The woman's name was Yu Ling, and she was Yan Hanu's fiancée.
As soon as the news reached her eyes, the tears began to flow. She could not accept at all that the person she loved was no longer in this world. Her hands shook as she held the picture frame. Her shoulders shook. She could be heard trying to accept it.
Just then there was a knock at the door.
The crying stopped. For a moment a spark of hope woke in her eyes. Was it him? Was he alive after all? She hurried to the door, her heart beating loudly. She called his name.
She hoped her beloved would be standing there. But the one who came in was not Yan Hanu. It was Yanshi.
Yu Ling's face immediately filled with confusion. She asked how he had the keys to her house.
Yanshi calmly explained that the key had been given to him by her parents. They had been worried that she would be very sad after hearing the news. So they had asked him to keep an eye on her.
Yu Ling sighed and said he need not worry about her. She only wanted to be alone for a while. He should go.
But he did not move, as though he had not heard it. He suddenly came close to her and hugged her from behind. At that very moment he took the picture frame from her hands and said casually that she should stop wasting her time thinking about Yan Hanu.
In his view, Yan Hanu had never been a man to whom anyone could trust their life. He kept talking. Hanu had repeatedly pushed forward carelessly during dungeon missions. He had kept putting all his companions at risk without any regard for their safety. He claimed Hanu had been nothing but a selfish man who had only ever needed to worry about himself.
Hearing these words, Yu Ling's anger flared. She snatched the picture frame from his hands and said firmly that this was impossible. She did not believe anything he said.
In her eyes, Yan Hanu had never been such a person. He did not betray his companions. He did not become selfish. Hanu had always been a person who faced every challenge boldly. No matter how difficult the situation was, he kept moving forward.
In the dark, the rain had started.
Yan Hanu stood quietly with his huge sword. He looked at those who had surrounded him and said indifferently: come together, there is no time to deal with each one separately.
Hearing this, they became enraged at once. One stepped forward and shouted at Yan Hanu that he would have to pay the price for his pride. A second said with a smile that even if it was a B rank weapon, he could still beat him badly.
Many of them pounced on him all at once, arms swinging in the air from different directions.
Yan Hanu watched them calmly and began analysing in his mind. The weapon might be different — light saber, great sword, whatever it was — but the combat skills he had learned over the years had not gone anywhere. Skill was skill. Experience could not be erased.
Just as the enemies' weapons were about to reach him, Yan Hanu came into action. In one motion he drew out his great sword.
A notification appeared. Maximum Range Drop Blade Slash ready. Skill level B rank.
The sword came out in a wide, powerful arc that cut through the heavy air of the rain. The attack was instantaneous. Many of them fell backwards, as though they had hit an invisible wall. Some of their weapons were broken by the edge of the sword. Some took a direct hit.
In a few seconds there was complete silence across the street.
The people who had just been on their feet were now lying on the ground with the rain pouring down on them continuously. Yan Hanu stood there calmly, the sword still in his hand.
One of the losers tried to lift his head and asked who he was.
Yan Hanu only said that he was the sort of person who did not want to disappoint anyone.
Even in the middle of a fight, his answer was strangely dramatic.
Then the big man with the lip piercing opened the door. He looked out and found several men lying on the ground. The work of that same boy.
Yan Hanu walked up to the door and stopped him by placing his hand on it. He asked with a cold gaze whether the man would make the identity card now.
At Yu Ling's house, the argument was continuing. Yu Ling stated firmly that she knew better than anyone what kind of person Hanu had actually been, and that Yanshi had no right to interfere in her life.
When he tried to take her hands, she immediately shook him off.
But he only replied with a small smile. Actually, he said, he did have the right. He said in a calm voice that her parents had already accepted his proposal. Their wedding was scheduled to take place a month from now.
Yu Ling's eyes went wide. This news shook her completely. She did not understand what was happening. Why would she suddenly be married to this man?
Back on the street, the man with the lip piercing finally gave Yan Hanu the fake identity card.
Yan Hanu politely asked how much money it would be. But the man quickly refused. He called Yan Hanu big brother and explained that all that earlier talk about kidnapping and the rest had only been meant to frighten people. It had just been an act.
Yan Hanu said calmly that he had already known that.
The man nodded in agreement, though fear was clearly visible on his face.
Yan Hanu went on. Child trafficking — no group of D rank challengers would dare to do it. Not even with a hundred times the courage. The meaning was clear. There was a big boss standing behind them.
Hearing this, the man with the lip piercing began to sweat. He started wondering what this strange boy was going to do.
Yan Hanu said calmly that he had not expected the man to know who the real boss was. But he would still have to be punished.
Without any warning, he lifted his weapon and aimed it at the man.
The poor man rolled out onto the road. It was all a little ridiculous. Yan Hanu had first got his fake identity card made, and only then decided to beat the man. He lay outside on the ground with his whole body hurting.
By the time it was all over, the sky had begun to lighten. Yan Hanu looked up. The sun was slowly rising.
Thinking about it, this was the first morning he had seen since his body had been made young again.
He took out the fake identity card and looked at it carefully. His new identity was written on it. From this moment on, Yan Hanu would live under the name Shou Woojin.
