Back in the forest, Klein and the necromancer were still locked in a stare-off, but Klein was more concerned by the fact that the last fight had drained all of his demonic energy, which meant he could not use necromancy. Looking at the situation in front of him, Klein knew that his body would not last long in another fight.
As soon as the necromancer ordered his minions to attack and eliminate Klein, the slowest undead in the history of the dead began advancing on him, growling as they came. Despite the disadvantage, Klein remained unbothered, and taunted the necromancer for trying to eliminate him with such mediocre soul return magic.
Just then the back of Klein's hand began to glow, a sign that the magic scroll had been ripped. The undead drew nearer, growling and raising their weapons to strike him. But with a mischievous grin, Klein told the necromancer that he was completely finished.
A purple light burst from the crest on the back of Klein's hand while the necromancer stood utterly confused about what he meant. Before he could figure it out, a bright golden light appeared as Garrison landed in front of Klein, taking out several of the zombies with holy light. Garrison began to chant holy spells, purifying every undead in his path with that light. After taking them down, he urged Klein to relax.
The necromancer was still frozen in shock at what he had just witnessed. Looking at Garrison, he immediately recognized him as the famous agent of the church. Garrison, meanwhile, towered there in confidence, surrounded by bright golden light, comforting Klein and telling him to rest easy now that a powerhouse like himself had arrived.
As for Garrison being called an agent, there were three human weapons who carried out the Pope's orders with absolute obedience. These three were the church's strongest assets, and they alone were capable of wielding the holy relic left behind by Saint Gall. It was said that each one of these agents possessed the power of an entire fortress, and among them, the one who boasted the greatest raw strength was none other than Garrison.
As more of the undead came at him, Garrison crushed them effortlessly with his fists while chanting a prayer to purify them. He breezed through the horde, taking a few heads without breaking a sweat, making it perfectly clear that he belonged in a category of his own.
While Garrison was exerting what he called judgment, the man who had started the whole thing watched in shock. He began to question every single decision that had brought him here, and he could not understand why an agent of the church would be involved in a mess as simple as this one. He was even more shocked by Garrison's insane power, so he decided to make a run for it, knowing he had crossed the wrong man. As Garrison headed towards him to purify the source, the masked man tried to bolt, since facing a monster had not been part of the job he was paid for.
Before he could take more than a few steps, he was hauled off the ground like a piece of trash as Garrison grabbed him by the head. While he flailed in midair, his mask fell off, and he tried to plead for his pathetic life, but Garrison began crushing every bone in his face like pudding. While the man struggled to breathe, Garrison ignored all his protests and decided to finish his prayer.
Before the prayer ended, the man's eyes were already almost popping out of their sockets, and as Garrison recited the final words, he effortlessly crushed the man's head. One eyeball bounced all the way to Klein's feet.
Once he was done, Garrison called out to Klein, who was deeply uneasy after witnessing that terrifying strength. Garrison had barely taken a step. He had merely charged forward, and yet by the sheer pressure of his aura, more than twenty corpses had been shredded to pieces on the spot.
Klein grew more uneasy as Garrison approached him with bloodied hands, and as the blood dripped onto Klein's hair, he was terrified that he might be the next thing to be shredded.
Garrison then said that he had rushed over after sensing a trace of necromancy coming from the forest. He grinned eerily and told Klein that there seemed to be something here he could not quite understand. Placing a hand on Klein's shoulder, he said that the demonic energy he had felt earlier was different from the energy on the masked man.
At that moment Klein's heart dropped. Seeing the expression on Garrison's face, Klein was certain that the priest was ready to erase him on the spot if he slipped up.
Fortunately, Dunkel arrived in the nick of time, asking whether Klein was all right. As Klein turned around and saw him, he had never been so relieved to see another person in his short life. As the relief washed through his body, Klein began to feel light-headed, and he guessed that using necromancy had been too much for this weak body. He slumped to the ground, and Dunkel panicked and rushed to his side to check on him.
Like a worried mother, Dunkel frantically demanded to know what had happened to Klein and why he was covered in blood, even though the blood was only a few drops from Garrison's hand. Klein ignored the million questions and told Dunkel to stop screaming into his ears and just hold him, because his legs were about to give out.
Dunkel then asked about Dalton, and Klein simply replied that he had eliminated him, because Dalton had tried to kill him first.
