Chapter 8Twenty Minutes Early

Meanwhile, Jung Ji-hun steps into a room, feeling his body suddenly turn heavy. Something is definitely wrong here. His mind stays sharp, but his tongue goes numb and his limbs feel strangely sluggish. He seriously starts wondering if it was just that coffee he drank earlier, but instead of panicking, he pulls off his sweater as a strange heat builds up inside him.

A dark, knowing smirk slowly spreads across his face. Whatever trap was meant to catch him just unleashed something way more dangerous, and he looks totally ready to embrace it.

Later, Ji-hun wakes up in bed with a deeply smug smile playing on his lips. His mind is completely consumed by just one person, Gong So-hyun. He decides this entire overwhelming feeling is completely her fault.

He just cannot stop thinking about that arrogant gaze of hers, her bold assertiveness, and the way she knows exactly how to tease him. The memory of her captivating smile flashes right through his mind. He finally realizes the intense, powerful effect she has on him. He is totally under her spell, and she has clearly gotten under his skin in a dangerously real way.

Ji-hun just stays in bed, his mind completely consumed by a fantasy of Gong So-hyun. He imagines her leaning close, making a bold and daring suggestion right there inside his car. He knows she is the type who never holds back her desires, and he is intensely curious to see that real side of her, openly admitting he has never met a woman this captivating.

He just cannot get her out of his head. Suddenly, his phone vibrates violently on the nightstand, yanking him right back to reality. Highly annoyed by the sudden interruption, he sits up, wondering why the phone was not left on silent. Ji-hun's mind is still buzzing, absolutely consumed by the woman from the previous night. He just cannot shake those vivid memories of Gong So-hyun.

Fixating on that unique beauty mark by her lips, he remembers how it lifted when she smiled and how it looked during their intensely passionate encounter. Completely lost in the memory, he realizes he could easily watch her all day long and never once get tired of it. This woman was entirely different. A brand-new, fiercely powerful obsession begins taking hold of him, demanding that he track her down again.

Snatching up the phone, Ji-hun's brief little hope gets instantly crushed. It is not her. Tapping the screen, an angry voice immediately blasts through the speaker. It is his grandfather, loudly yelling about how many times he had to call. He accuses Ji-hun of messing around all day long, warning him to clean up his act. He reminds him that there are always eyes watching his every move.

Completely unfazed by the heavy lecture, Ji-hun rubs his aching head and coldly tells the old man to keep his voice down. But the old man just keeps yelling, suddenly worried that Ji-hun has a headache and is somehow sick from living abroad. Ji-hun is completely done with this conversation, though, firmly declaring that he is going straight to sleep. His grandfather absolutely explodes, threatening to storm the hotel, but it is too late.

Ji-hun hangs up and tosses the phone aside, sinking right back into bed. Feeling nauseous, he thinks it is a blessing he saved one of their meetings, though. Now he is wondering if three is way too low. Ji-hun lies awake. He realizes So-hyun would probably just demand more anyway. Now he is completely obsessing over those three meetings she actually granted him.

He needs to make them count. But then a completely paranoid thought hits him. What if she just dumps him before he even uses them? Time usually drags for him. Right now, though, it feels like it is flying.

Meanwhile, over in a meeting room, someone tells Assistant Manager Gong that they trust her completely and to go ahead. Smiling with pure confidence, she gets right to work on her laptop. But a second later, her fingers just freeze. The smile completely vanishes. She stares hard at her screen, her whole expression shifting into dead serious focus. So-hyun's mind instantly flashes back to Ji-hun's warning. He made it clear that if she ever made him wait again, things would get pretty unpleasant for her. He demanded she at least pretend to enjoy herself.

Snapping back to the present, she heads down a dark hallway with her suitcase in tow. She flips the lights on. It is actually surprising he left so calmly earlier without burning one of his three chances. Honestly, it is a massive relief he has not reached out. Right now, she is completely drained, zero energy left to deal with a guy like him.

Up in the elevator, So-hyun's phone suddenly buzzes. It is a text from Ji-hun demanding to see her. She knew it. She just knew he would pull something unexpected. The timing is absolutely awful, since she has a client meeting. But Ji-hun is totally relentless. He blows up her phone with calls until she finally picks up. Super annoyed, she tells him he has exactly ten minutes to explain himself.

Looking out from his high-rise apartment, Ji-hun calmly replies. Setting these limits only makes him want her even more. Completely exasperated, So-hyun just demands a time. She suggests seven, making sure to point out she actually needs time to get ready after work. She throws in a sarcastic little jab. A guy who never worked a real job would not understand.

Completely unfazed, Ji-hun just tells her she should be able to handle his conditions. Now stuck in nasty gridlock traffic, she warns him he better actually show up once the time is officially set. He completely ignores her struggle, dropping one final, non-negotiable order. Be at the Seoul Premium Hotel by exactly seven sharp. He promises a nice reward for her effort, but warns he will not forgive her if she is late.

Inside the car, So-hyun's frustration finally boils completely over. Snap. Her bracelet suddenly breaks, scattering little beads across the dashboard. She grips that steering wheel, absolutely fuming. She cannot believe she let Ji-hun's cocky attitude slide before, and now he just keeps pushing her boundaries. As horns blare around her in the awful traffic, she has a pretty stunning realization.

In her career, she has faced down incredibly arrogant clients and powerful industry players. But never once has a single phone call made her feel this completely suffocated and out of control. So-hyun's mind floods with chaotic memories of Ji-hun. The guy is just pure chaos. During their very first meeting, he was with another woman and did not even flinch when he saw her.

He actually had the nerve to barge into her team's client meeting, acting like he personally owned the entire building. The man clearly has zero fear. He just does whatever he wants. Snapping back to reality, she grips the wheel tight, seriously questioning her own sanity. Why on earth did she make a deal with someone like him? Just as she sinks deep into regret, the gridlock finally breaks.

Ditching the car entirely, So-hyun takes a brand-new approach. She strides purposefully right toward the massive Seoul Premium Hotel. She arrives with time to spare. One quick glance at her watch confirms it. Six forty in the evening. A wicked, triumphant smirk spreads across her face. She is not just on time today, she is twenty whole minutes early. Mentally calling Ji-hun a total rookie, she celebrates managing to leave work perfectly on schedule for the very first time in her life.
