Chapter 5The Screen Behind Us

After finishing all my preparations, I opened my bedroom door, ready to head out. The moment I looked up, I saw Dylan Monroe.

"Hey." Dylan Monroe walked closer as if about to say something. But when he saw the blood-red diamond watch on my wrist, the smile on his face suddenly froze. "Where did you get that watch?" Dylan Monroe's tone changed as he asked. "Or did she give it to you?"

I yanked my hand away from Dylan Monroe coldly. "How is that any of your business?"

A flash of resentment sparked in Dylan Monroe's eyes. "Sebastian Sinclair. You don't actually think she likes you, do you? The person she really likes is me. She doesn't like you at all. She's only repaying old man Sinclair's kindness. So she's forcing herself to marry you, even though it makes her sick."

As Dylan Monroe spoke, he pulled out his phone and played a video for me. In the video, it appeared Dylan Monroe had been upset that Elena Monroe had to marry me, so in anger he tried to leave. Elena Monroe looked devastated. She locked Dylan Monroe in. She personally fed him, put on his shoes, constantly confessing she'd love him forever. She even promised that even if she married me later, she'd keep me as a neglected husband. For her entire life, she'd never betray Dylan Monroe. Her body and soul would belong to Dylan Monroe forever.

"See that? Even if she marries you, my sister will never let you touch her. She only loves me. Has she ever been this crazy about you? So tonight, don't choose my sister. The six other bootlicking dogs are yours to pick from. I've already had a taste of all six anyway. No matter which one you choose, they'll all serve you wonderfully. My sister will only leave you lonely and neglected. Ha. You better watch out for yourself."

Hearing these filthy words, I couldn't take it anymore. I swung my fist at Dylan Monroe.

"Shut your mouth. You're always in heat. How are you any different from an animal? You're disgusting."

But the moment my punch landed, a cold stare pierced through me from behind. I froze instantly. The moment I turned around, I came face to face with Elena Monroe's icy eyes.

Elena Monroe looked at me coldly without saying a word. But that was the worst part, because I knew Elena Monroe well. Once you touched Dylan Monroe, she would definitely retaliate. This woman may have come from poverty, but her personality was ruthlessly calculating.

So throughout the entire birthday party, I was on edge, anxious and afraid, constantly worried that at any moment Elena Monroe would stab me where it hurt most, without leaving a trace. But the entire birthday party went unusually smoothly. Nothing happened at all.

Soon it was noon. Old man Sinclair was about to announce who I would marry in the future. The room buzzed with noise, everyone whispering among themselves.

"Sebastian Sinclair will definitely choose Elena Monroe. Everyone in our circles knows he's Elena Monroe's lapdog."

"Elena Monroe isn't just beautiful, she's also incredibly intelligent. Her methods are ruthless. If she successfully marries into the Sinclair family and takes over Sinclair Corporation, who in the business world could compete with her after that? I'm afraid only Olivia Winston from the Winston family could stand against her."

"I heard Olivia Winston has been pursuing Sebastian Sinclair for years."

"That's right. Olivia Winston is so tragic. All those years chasing Sebastian Sinclair, she couldn't even get her foot in the door. Now she has to watch the man she loves marry her mortal enemy."

Hearing everyone's gossip, I couldn't help but smile secretly. I stole a glance at Olivia Winston and discovered Olivia Winston was also looking at me. Olivia's eyes were filled with deep affection. She used sign language to tell me, "Don't you dare change your mind."

I smiled tenderly, about to respond, when the large screen behind us suddenly began scrolling through photos of me. The photos included shots of my back while showering. Photos of me sleeping naked, taken from the side. At the end, a video started playing. In the video, I was clutching Elena Monroe's clothes, smelling them intoxicatedly while talking to myself.

"Elena, I love you so much."

The man in the video looked like a pervert, holding a woman's clothes while confessing his deep feelings, and in reality, I was collapsing.

I looked desperately toward Elena Monroe, feeling like my heart had been stabbed with a knife. Just because I'd called Dylan Monroe an animal, Elena Monroe had to publicly expose these unacceptable things about me to everyone. As if to prove to everyone who was truly the shameless one.

Elena Monroe, how could you do this? Is it wrong for a man to have liked her that way? Why humiliate me in public like this?

"Who's playing this video? Turn it off. Turn it off right now." Old man Sinclair was furious.

I rushed forward to turn off the video, but discovered I couldn't shut it down no matter what. In the end, Olivia Winston rushed up and smashed the projector. Only then did the large screen finally go completely black.

"Who did this? Who exactly did this?" Old man Sinclair trembled with rage. "Lock the main doors. No one leaves until we find the culprit."

"Old man Sinclair, please calm down." A business partner tried to comfort old man Sinclair. "After all, Sebastian and Elena are getting married soon anyway. This video really isn't that big of a deal."

"Exactly, exactly. Sebastian's a man. Besides, we all understand these little pleasures between spouses."

But old man Sinclair's expression remained stern, because only he knew Sebastian's fiancée had already changed.

In the silence, old man Sinclair raised his head, looking gravely toward Olivia Winston. He wanted to know Olivia Winston's choice.

Receiving the unspoken message from her future father-in-law, Olivia Winston stepped forward without hesitation. She gripped my arm tightly, then announced loudly, "The one Sebastian will marry is me, and I won't spare anyone who hurts Sebastian. Whoever dared to secretly film and leak those videos, I'll make sure you beg for death but can't even die."

The moment she finished speaking, everyone stared at Olivia Winston in shock, especially Elena Monroe and the six remaining foster brides. Their faces turned ashen in an instant.

"Sebastian chose her? You've got to be kidding. Everyone knows Sebastian Sinclair loves Elena to death and back. How could Sebastian Sinclair choose Olivia Winston?"

Among the foster brides, the most shocked were naturally Elena Monroe and Tessa Lane.

"Sebastian, are you joking?" Elena Monroe said coldly. "Is it because I gave End of Time to my brother instead of you? So today you're pulling this stunt to deliberately make me angry."

Tessa Lane also looked defiant. "Sebastian, why would you choose Olivia Winston? If you want to make Elena Monroe angry, you could easily choose me. I'd willingly let you use me."

That devoted expression moved many people present.

"Tessa Lane loves Sebastian Sinclair so much. I heard she even jumped off a building for Sebastian Sinclair. Why wouldn't Sebastian Sinclair choose her? If a woman loved me like that, I'd marry her without hesitation."

"Everyone in the capital knows Tessa Lane loves Sebastian Sinclair to the point of madness. But he's never even looked back at her once."

Everyone present felt indignant on Tessa Lane's behalf, pitying Tessa Lane for giving her true heart to the wrong person. Pitying Tessa Lane for loving without reciprocation.
