After running for a bit, Seo's phone rang. It was the manager again, demanding the employee ID card back.
Seo searched her pockets but couldn't find the card. It definitely must have dropped at the crime scene. She had to go back to the same spot to find it.
Right then, an older man walking by saw Dohyun lying motionless on the road and asked, "Is he your boyfriend? Is he this drunk? Let me call the police to come and help."
When Seo heard the word police, she was scared out of her mind. If the police came, she would be arrested for assaulting a superstar. In that urgent situation, Seo had to do something she never dared to think of. Fearing that if the police arrived her life would be game over, she took a risk and carried Dohyun's body away to hide it.
Just picture a small girl having to carry a tall, big guy while staggering in the middle of the night. It looked both pitiful and funny. People on the street all looked at her with curious eyes, thinking she was carrying her drunk boyfriend home. Some people even whispered, "Oh, doesn't this guy look exactly like the superstar Dohyun?"
Seo's skin crawled when she heard that, so she quickly took a mask and covered Dohyun's face so no one would recognise him.
Right then, a police car pulled up. The kind officer saw her struggling and said, "Your boyfriend's pretty wasted, huh? Come on, hop in. We'll give you two a ride home."
Seo refused at first, because she was afraid of getting caught. But they were so enthusiastic that if she kept refusing it would look even more suspicious. So she just closed her eyes, took the leap, and got in the car.
Sitting in the car, her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her chest. The officers were also a bit suspicious, because this guy looked too fancy, but then they reassured themselves. Probably just a lookalike. There was no way an A-list superstar would be dead drunk and carried home by an ordinary girl like this.
The most intense part was when the car radio started playing a live interview with Miran, Dohyun's best friend. The host asked him to call Dohyun on air. Immediately, the phone in Dohyun's pocket started ringing loudly.
Seo panicked, but she quickly grabbed the phone, pretended to answer it, and said, "Yes, Mum. I'm on my way home." Then she hung up abruptly.
The officer even joked about it. "That's crazy. Talk about a coincidence. The radio calls Dohyun and your boyfriend's phone rings at the exact same time. For a second, I thought I was actually helping a superstar escape."
Seo could only manage a fake laugh to brush it off.
Back at the apartment building, she had to strain herself to carry the body into the lift. The neighbour Namu appeared again and asked what was going on. Seo said it was just a drunk friend. Namu even offered to help, but he wanted to be paid, so Seo immediately turned him down.
Finally, she managed to drag Dohyun into her place. That night she was exhausted and fell asleep, thinking, "It's over. I have to figure out how to dispose of this body tomorrow."
Waking up the next morning, Seo saw the room was empty. She cheered to herself. "Wait, was it all a dream? Thank God I didn't kill anyone."
But the joy didn't last long, because when she walked into the next room, she saw the body still lying right there.
Seo fell back into a panic. She cried hysterically, thinking about turning herself in, but then got scared. If I confess, I'll go to prison. Then who will hire me? Who would ever want to marry me?
Right then, her mother called to check on the cookies and her job. Seo had to hold back her pain and answer as if everything were normal. But when she heard her mother's voice, she cried even harder, because she remembered a harsh truth.
Dohyun was her mother's biggest idol.
She blamed herself. Oh my god, I killed my mum's idol. How can I ever look her in the face again?
The more she thought about it, the more desperate she got. Seo decided she couldn't keep this body in her house forever. She didn't have a car to take it away and dump it, and she couldn't ask anyone for help. Finally, she came up with a bold and slightly creepy idea.
Buy chemicals to dissolve the body.
Seo ran out and bought all sorts of chemical solutions, getting the scene ready. However, when she went back to where Dohyun was lying, it was empty. The body had mysteriously vanished.
Seo panicked and ran all over the house looking for him, sweating buckets. Suddenly, a cold hand touched her shoulder from behind. She froze, and as she slowly turned around, she almost fainted again.
Dohyun, the guy she thought had been dead since yesterday, was now standing right there behind her, staring at her with an extremely confused look.
Seo's brain couldn't process anything, and her mind immediately jumped to something supernatural. She screamed at the top of her lungs. "Ah! A ghost! Somebody help me!"
Seeing her scream, Dohyun got spooked too. He opened his mouth wide and screamed back, and the sound echoed through the whole house. In a panic, Dohyun rushed out of Seo's apartment to make a run for it.
But talk about going from the frying pan into the fire. Just as Dohyun rushed into the hallway, the neighbour Namu heard a strange noise and ran over to check things out. Seeing a strange man frantically running out of Seo's place, Namu immediately thought it was a thief, or some creep who had attacked his neighbour. Without saying a word, Namu grabbed a shovel and whacked Dohyun right in the head.
With one fatal blow, the poor superstar hit the floor again, knocked out cold on the spot.
That was when Seo came rushing out after him. Seeing her, Namu explained himself.
"Hey, I heard a scream and thought a burglar had broken into your place, so I ran out to help. Who would have thought? I accidentally hit your cousin."
You see, the night before, when Namu saw Seo carrying Dohyun inside, she had lied to him and said she was bringing her drunk cousin home.
Great. Now Dohyun had just woken up from the hit with the high heel the night before, and before he could even see his kidnapper's face, he ate another blow from a shovel, thanks to an overenthusiastic neighbour. This superstar's luck was truly the worst. First he got hit in the head with a shoe, and then with a shovel.
As for Seo, she stood there in the middle of the hallway, looking at the body unconscious for the second time, and just wanted the earth to swallow her whole.
