Chapter 10One Hundred Acres, Leased

But when Lin Fang raised his head, his expression was completely blank, as cold as if absolutely nothing had happened.

The master was stunned, his smile freezing on his face as a million questions filled his mind. Huh? Why isn't he sad at all? Could it be that the grief was so intense it numbed his emotions?

Suddenly countless green vines exploded from under Lin Fang's feet, spreading across the arena floor. Countless vines shot forward, binding the master tightly and causing him to spin around in shock. "Damn it. Is this brat cheating? He has so many summons."

Lin Fang formed the vines into a spiral, preparing to launch a finishing blow. At that moment the director stood up, a strange light glinting in his eye. Suddenly the master flexed his muscles and broke free from the binding vines.

The director stepped into the arena, waving his hand. "All right. Stop." He looked at Lin Fang with an approving gaze. "Lin Fang, you have proven you have the qualifications to become a student of this academy. However, the nature system masters are all rotating through the battlefield, so there is no one to teach you for now."

Lin Fang didn't care about that at all. He got straight to the point, asking about his cultivation resources.

The director firmly stated that the academy would never cut anyone's resources. His would be distributed according to the standard procedure. Then he adjusted his monocle, adding that as the top student he was entitled to one special request.

Hearing this, Lin Fang's eyes lit up. Freedom and free resources — this was an absolute paradise. He didn't hesitate, raising a finger and declaring, "Then I want a piece of land."

The director was completely stunned. His eyes widened, sweat dripping down his face as he questioned the strange request. "You don't want rare resources, high-grade gear, or top-tier items. Just a plot of land?"

Lin Fang just grinned, scratching his head as if it were obvious. "That's right. My class is Spirit Farm Lord. How can you be a farm lord without any land? Am I right?"

The director sighed, completely defeated by his logic. "Fine. There's an abandoned training ground west of the city. Do whatever you want with it. Come see me later for the paperwork."

Lin Fang bowed his head in thanks. With that settled, the director waved him away dismissively. "All right, you can go rest. Next in line."

Lin Fang happily turned and left, ignoring the weary stares from the other instructors behind him.

Meanwhile, in the director's office, the atmosphere turned strangely silent. On the desk sat the file of a new, cold-faced student named Lin Fang. The director stared intently at the file, muttering with genuine interest, "A Spirit Farm Lord. What a fascinating class."

Suddenly a panicked pink-haired teacher burst in. "Director, I have an urgent matter to report to you."

"What is it?" the director asked calmly.

The teacher tremblingly held out a photo from a crime scene. The picture showed the mangled body of Du Ta. "We found Du Ta, from the investigation team," she said, horrified. "It was confirmed he was brutally murdered by a necromancer. His body was left right near the auditorium. We suspect a necromancer has infiltrated our academy."

At the same time, sunlight streamed peacefully over the abandoned training grounds. Lin Fang held a map, looking around to confirm his location. This was definitely the western training ground. He activated the paper contract in his hand, and a green magical flame erupted, burning it to ash.

A system notification appeared confirming his ownership of the hundred-acre training ground in west Fuan City. Ownership remained with the academy, but a temporary lease was in effect for a term of one year. The exclusionary barrier was now open for student Lin Fang's sole use.

He just clicked his tongue, not entirely satisfied. "Only one year? The academy is so cheap." Then again, most students would be off to the battlefield in a year, so it made sense.

But he quickly snapped out of it, spreading his arms wide with excitement. He knew a hundred acres were all his for at least a year. "Now this is what being a Spirit Farm Lord feels like."

He raised a finger to the sky, channelling his magic as purple streams of light began to gather. A powerful undead army led by Yu Ya and He Sha materialised from the void, hovering around their master along with tiny sprites.

Lin Fang pointed toward the desolate land and gave a clear order. "Begin construction."

In a flash his undead army got to work at blinding speed. The clang of picks and shovels echoed through the air as Yu Ya used water magic to professionally irrigate and reclaim the land. Even his ghost bear was put to use, tirelessly pulling a plough, working without a hint of exhaustion.

Meanwhile Lin Fang was just lounging on a chair enjoying some watermelon. "Magic really does change your life. The ancients weren't lying."

Suddenly a cold, bony hand started gently massaging his shoulders, giving him excellent service. Lin Fang hadn't noticed anything strange yet. He just took a bite of watermelon and casually asked, "Are you guys finished already?"

He turned his head and froze, shocked to see his undead legion surrounding him, awaiting orders. "When did you all get so proactive?"

One of the undead tried to speak, but only managed to let out a series of meaningless garbled sounds. Lin Fang stared hopefully at He Sha, only to sigh in disappointment and turn away a moment later. Relying on this undead legion to have a will of its own was still asking for too much.
