Shaunie woke up thinking that if he had not had that heart attack that year, he would have retired the way he wanted to. And if he were still alive and found out that she had not gone to college, how upset he would be about it.
The girl cleaned herself up, got ready, and headed down to the first floor of the club. She stated that she had never once regretted it. After all, she had worked so hard, and now this club was very popular, and now she could see the halls filled. It had only taken nine persistent years, but the result was worth it, as they were now reaping the rewards of their labor.
As expected of Glory, even though it was early morning, many people had arrived thanks to the opening of server ten.
She made her way to the smoking area. There she found Sunny, whom she immediately hit over the head, for he had been playing all night without taking a break. Shaunie asked what level he had gotten to. In response she heard seventeen. She did not think getting that overnight was very fast.
She wondered how many first kills he had made, to which she heard that he had gotten them from the Imperial Spider and the Spider King. She thought, in shock, that if you added the Midnight Ghost Cat to that, this guy had been able to get three first kills in one night. After which she decided that he must be playing on some godlike team, and so she asked him to let her watch.
The girl cringed loudly when she spotted that very same Sleepy Moon from last night, the one who had tried to slander Sunny. She asked whether he had ended up working for them the rest of the night, stripped of the last of his pride. But Sunny said that it had not been that bad. After all, they had unanimously insisted that he choose the fallen items first, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Shaunie was surprised that he had been able to make an enemy into his subordinate, while the guy said that he was tired, so he was going to go get some sleep. The girl was delighted with him, so she offered him a snack before bed, but he said that he would eat after he woke up.
The guy went back to the small storage room on the second floor of the internet cafe that was his temporary room. He noticed a cup on the nightstand with a packed toothbrush and toothpaste in it, and a note attached to the cup. Shaunie had written that it was for him, since he had not brought anything with him here, and that the cost of these items would not be deducted from his paycheck. He mentally thanked his boss, who had turned out to be very caring. After which Sunny wrapped himself in a blanket and fell asleep.
When it was nine o'clock at night, the guy went down to the first floor, where a crowd of people had gathered around the television, and he decided that something had happened. As he got closer, he heard someone saying his name from the speakers, and also mentioning his old account. Interest took over, and so he headed toward the cluster of people to see what they were saying about him.
Along with the voice from the broadcast, he could hear people whispering about the fact that a great player like Sunny had decided to retire. Three-time league champion, three-time most valuable player, and two-time rising star. As a team player, Sunny represented the pinnacle of the Glory professional league. He was the benchmark to which all players aspired. They were grateful for these beautiful moments that Sunny had given them.
And now the team manager wanted to make a statement. Because of his recent failures, Sunny had decided to voluntarily retire. But Magnificent Era had always been ready for something like this. Their newest member was sure to be the next God of War in the professional league. He would once again lead Magnificent Era to the top.
The guy was tired of listening to this news, and so he decided to get some fresh air and get ready for his work shift.
Stepping outside, the guy exhaled a cloud of steam when he suddenly heard a girl's voice nearby, refusing to believe it. He noticed Shaunie saying that Sunny's career was still too far from over and that she did not believe he had voluntarily resigned.
Asking his boss whether she was crying, he heard her yell that he was being facetious. Then she asked whether he felt any emotion at all. Looking up, the lad replied that of course he did not. He had just gone outside because he could not listen to any more of this.
First Shaunie kicked him out, then she asked whether he had anything to wipe her eyes with. Sunny offered her a pack of cigarettes.
When the guy had smoked, the owner stated that she was in a bad mood, so she ordered him to go on duty. When he entered the building, he asked whether he could play at the front desk. Shaunie said that he could use that computer, and that everything he needed to know was written down in the staff manual.
And while the guy leafed through a page or two, the owner announced that she was going to bed. Putting the notebook aside, Sunny put on his headphones and inserted his player's card, ready to enter the game for more adventures.
He found himself in the middle of a forest road with an incredible number of players and NPCs milling around each other. At the same second, Tyler called out to him, saying loudly that they had been waiting for him. Along with him were the rest of the night group, except for Moon. Moon was very upset about the news that Sunny was retiring, so he was not coming. Sunny was his idol.
The hero said that since they were one person short, it would be a bit difficult to kill the hidden boss of the spider cave if they met him again. He decided that there was no point in going there again, and then suggested that they go to the skeleton graveyard. Everyone unanimously agreed.
They arrived at a location surrounded by tombstones and green lights, with access from level fifteen. Tyler asked the Lord whether he needed anything in this particular dungeon. He replied that he needed a skeleton warrior's saber. The guy thought that it was useless, since it was decorative, but if this was what the Grim Lord wanted, then he must definitely have a reason.
Kneeling down, the whole group asked the dungeon to give them a hidden boss. Sunny noticed that they had developed quite a love for killing bosses. In the same second their screams provoked the regular skeletons, who began to rise from the ground, roaring loudly. Before the guys could say anything about the mobs showing up, Sunny had already rushed into the fray, pulling out his umbrella and using a tug.
