Chapter 9Wolves in the Green Forest

Shaunie commented aloud that this Sleepy Moon was a very nasty individual, since Sunny had just shown up in a system alert. At the entrance to the Green Forest his name was written for everyone to see. He was too conspicuous, and now nobody would want to be on the same team with him. All the players knew about him now.

Suddenly the Grim Lord turned his attention to a loudly laughing guy whom he immediately recognized from the recent dungeon. Sleepy Moon shouted that he would make him regret ever getting on this server, then offered to spam the message together with the others some more.

In that same second, Sunny had an idea that made him want both to deal with Moon and to get a spot on a team.

As he approached the blond man, he called out to him and waved his hand. The other was startled with surprise and shrieked, recognizing the impudent man.

Sunny asked whether they were missing one person, so why not add him to the team, offering to level up together. Smirking, the blond asked what was wrong, figuring that the guy had come for mercy, and called him really pathetic. He then noticed with surprise that they had received a request to join the group from the Grim Lord, which caused him to stiffen briefly.

Sunny confirmed what he had said, adding that they were one man short of a full team and therefore they could bring him along. When asked whether he was sick, the hero replied that he was alone, and they were just missing a participant. Everyone knew the basics. There was a need for teamwork.

After hearing the explanation about the basics, Moon said to himself that this guy was pissing him the hell off, but he did not say anything out loud. He also did not understand what was wrong with his tone. He had really decided to join them, clearly up to some sort of game.

His ally asked in the team chat what he was thinking, rushing him to add this guy, but the blond was still pondering. There were too many people gathered around, so their team did not want a conflict, because they were well aware that they were in the wrong now. They just needed to finish him off in there. Some of them were outsiders, but all of them were members of their brother guild.

Moon thought that it made sense, and since the man had come into his hands on his own, let him not blame anyone for it. He would be sure to finish him off.

A notification sounded that the Grim Lord had joined the team. Shaunie cringed. Was this not the thief who had slandered him?

When asked why he had teamed up with the man, Sunny said it was because he did not have his own team, but the girl did not accept that argument. She stated that it would be better if he went solo. He had a pretty good weapon, so he could level up solo. It was not necessary to form a team. But if you thought carefully, he had a silver weapon that put out several times the damage of a normal one. There was no point in him teaming up with anyone to go through the Green Forest, unless he wanted to team up to go through the hidden boss.

Thinking back to his first victory over the boss, Shaunie reflected that it had definitely not been ordinary luck, but a well-thought-out move. Looking at the guy for the umpteenth time, she asked herself what kind of man she had taken in, then said that she would go to sleep and find out in the morning whether he was dead.

She also added that if he caught a big fish, she would treat him to something, for his luck was too good. It was as though the guy could feel her and knew how he needed to act in a way that maximized his advantage.

Waving goodbye without looking in her direction, Sunny asked his boss to be careful and went on playing.

Upon entering the Green Forest, the group immediately ran into enemy wolves that attacked them from all directions. Turning to his comrade, Moon ordered Tyler by private message to proceed with the plan. After relaying this order to the others, they began to beat the beasts back toward the Grim Lord, saying that they had done so accidentally.

The guy immediately realized what was up when he noticed that each member of the group was sending another unkilled mob at him. However, Sunny did not give any sign, only pulling out the Umbrella of a Thousand Probabilities while the mobs completely surrounded him, not giving him a way past.

Moon asked the Lord whether he could handle them alone, for it would be a shame to die from these weak mobs in a dungeon. The smiling fellow replied that he should not help, as he could easily handle it alone.

Then he swung at the nearest beast. After that, all the beasts began to scatter under his blows, and the group's attacks did not bear any fruit. The hero easily held the defense. To the dumbfounded looks of his companions, Sunny slaughtered wolves left and right, not considering them anything particularly complicated.

The others asked in shock how this was even possible, and how a rookie could play like that. Then they realized that he was definitely an experienced player. Tyler remarked that with his skills, the Lord could finish this raid alone, noting that the wolves were unable to resist him.

Moon said that he had been a healer last time, so he did not know anything about his combat skills. Plus, he had had no problem defeating the Midnight Ghost Cat. The bottom line was that his skill surpassed theirs by several times, and thus he was a very dangerous opponent.

Having defeated the last wolf, Sunny headed toward his comrades, who had no words to describe what they had just seen. He asked why they were standing around like this, to which Tyler decided to reply that it was too easy and boring. They were now almost at level ten. So a unanimous group decision was made to temporarily change locations, and the guys suggested going to the spider cave.

Upon hearing this, Moon decided that it was an amazing choice. They could not finish him off in the Green Forest, but that did not mean they could not teach him a lesson in the spider cave, where it was far more dangerous. This was an area that was strongly discouraged at level ten. Even experienced teams always tried to avoid it.

Upon reaching the spider cave, the group began to look around, finding a large number of slimy cocoons and the bodies of fallen warriors. Walking on, every player was seized with a shiver, for this place by its atmosphere alone could terrify anyone, especially a low-ranking player.

Letting the Lord lead the way, they watched him, oblivious to the fact that beneath their feet lay bones with spiders running around on them. In a private chat, the guys wrote that they already regretted their words, because they were too low-level to come here, but they had to move on. They were only interested in whether they would be alive after he died, because if there was one less of them, it would be problematic to survive.

It had only been a few hours since the server opened. If the big guilds had not gotten their hands on this yet, then this would be the first boss kill. They unanimously decided to use this guy as bait. Gather resources from him first, and then just lure him to the boss.

Sunny asked what had happened to them. They were unusually quiet today. He was told that they just had some guild issues.

Tyler asked whether everyone had brought the antidote with them, to which the Lord replied in the negative, explaining that it was useless.

Suddenly everyone simultaneously felt something incredibly fast rushing toward them, rustling on many legs.
