Chapter 8Two Conditions for Staying

In Ji Yansi's villa the little beauty asked the big beauty whether she had taken Su An and Su Gu out to play, because she had been waiting for them for such a long time.

Su Fu told her that mommy had been dealing with some issues, and that was why they had to come home earlier for dinner.

A war had started with Su Li, and offending Su Li was the same as offending the Su family. She could not go on living here. Otherwise Ji Yansi would be dragged into that war with the Su family too, and the fewer people involved, the better.

But the little detective told his mom that they couldn't go back to their own home, because the house had been splattered with chicken blood and it was very dangerous to live there now.

Little Lulu understood the reference at once. She began to cry and told the big beauty that Lulu was scared, and that she did not want to be splashed with chicken's blood.

Su Fu told her that all right, they would talk about going home later, and first they would eat something.

The little girl came out of her role instantly and shouted, happily, "Yes!"

Su Fu took a breath and told herself that the little genius was an actress, and that she really couldn't blame her.

Then Ji Yansi arrived and took her by the arm. He came quite close and told her that instead of worrying about not getting involved, it was better to win — because hiding was not his style. This was the safest place in the city, he said. She could do whatever she wanted here, and he would do the rest.

The little programmer shouted through to his mom and dad that it was time to eat, but the little detective shushed him and told him to keep quiet and not bother his mom and dad when they were being so in love; and said that a straight man like him, who worked with computers every day, didn't understand romance at all.

Her husband kissed her on the forehead. He said that what he had told her was true, because hiding was not his style; and in fact, even if she moved to another rented house, Su Li would find her there. The Su family would not dare do anything as long as the children stayed here. The Ji family was an incredibly rich family, and even if some material about her were exposed, nobody would dare to touch that family or mess with Ji Yansi.

And it was her own fault for caring too much, Su Fu thought — she was so afraid of involving him that she was beginning to worry about him.

She told Ji Yansi that she could stay here for a while, but that she had two conditions.

He only asked her to tell him.

Su Fu said that although the two of them were legally married, they had no emotional basis at all; and even if he was interested in her, it might well be temporary, and one day when he liked another woman and she was still living in his house, it would not be good.

He wondered aloud why she was thinking about him like that, because that was very strange.

Then she told him that her problems with her family were personal, and that she wanted to resolve them herself.

He said all right. And he said that as long as Su Fu was happy, he didn't care about anything else.

She also told him that as far as their relationship went, it was better to keep it private for the moment, because that was better for both of them.

Ji Yansi asked her why — did she still want to get divorced and marry somebody else?

Su Fu asked him what nonsense he was talking now.

He turned his back on her and said that he was leaving, because he had to eat.

Then she picked up her phone and told herself that she would get to the point first, because she did not want to owe the Su family anything.

On the screen was a request form for the cancellation of an adoption registration.

She had slapped Su Li, she thought, and Su Li would certainly go running to the house and make Mr. Su angry; and then they would cut ties with her in order to make her look bad, and get other people to write up a version of events that confused good and evil. So why not announce the separation from the Su family in advance, herself?

She would tell the world that she owed the Su family nothing, and that she did not even want to be the Su family's eldest miss.

Her phone rang in her hand, and she wondered how they had found her so quickly.

A voice told Miss Su Fu that six years had passed without a sight of her, and that her mother already wanted to see her.

Su Fu said that that was fine, and that she would send the address for them to meet later.
