Days passed swiftly. Lu Di La was proven to be very efficient. As the manager of a large hotel, it was to be expected that she would be able to prepare everything fast. They would start with the church and afterwards, they would be having the traditional marriage ceremony in the hotel that Lu Di La had prepared.

"I'm glad that I no longer lived in ancient times," Feng Mian commented when Lu Di La and Zhang Ai were helping her to do her hair.

Zhang Ai laughed. "If we're in ancient times, I'm sure that you'll have a much harder time to take care of yourself."

Feng Mian merely smiled bitterly. In ancient times, she would have to wake up extremely early just in order to prepare herself for the marriage. Thankfully, even if she still had to wake up early, it was not as much as in the past.

"Miss Zhang Ai, there's a woman named Yu Yan coming here."

Feng Mian's eyes lit up. "Call her in."

"Your best friend?"

"Yes."

The door opened and Yu Yan walked in. She was wearing long light pink dress with a box on her hand. From the way she looked like, she was already ready for the marriage ceremony.

"Woah, you look beautiful, Mian'er!" Yu Yan showed a thumbs up.

Feng Mian had worn her white dress. It was long and also decorated nicely. The backside was only a bit long since Feng Mian didn't want one that would make her have trouble walking. Her hair was slowly braided beautifully by Lu Di La and Zhang Ai.

"Just for today, you're the prettiest!"

Feng Mian giggled. She noticed that Yu Yan seemed a bit tired. From the recent news, she had heard that Yu Family recently encountered a disaster. Their daughter was forced to marry the young master from Bao Family but then their business was in trouble. She wouldn't believe it if Yu Yan said that she didn't have anything to do with it.

Zhang Ai smiled. "Since you're Er Jie's best friend, help us to put on the makeup."

"Of course. Leave it to me!"

"Hey wait, that's too much powder!"

The women laughed out loudly as Yu Yan began to help Feng Mian wear the makeup. Outside the room, near the window, Feng Shao was standing while listening to the conversation inside. He wore a suit as he was also a guest here, yet at the same time, he would be protecting his little sister.

"You're still as solemn as ever, Shao."

Feng Shao lifted his head and saw Xiao Lin walking towards him. She was wearing a long light red dress. It was not eye catching, but it certainly highlighted her features and also her demeanor.

"Thank you for coming, Xiao Lin."

"Did you tell her?"

"Of course," Xiao Lin pursed her lips and giggled. "Do you really think that you can hide our relationship from your sister forever?"

Feng Shao smiled bitterly. He originally wanted to give his sister a surprise, but his girlfriend had already beaten him from doing that. Hearing another series of laughter coming from inside, his lips formed a bright smile.

"You sure have a sister complex," Xiao Lin rebuked her boyfriend.

"Can't help it. I accidentally made her lonely and suffered alone."

Xiao Lin shook her head. She knew that Feng Shao only had limited choice as a youth and when the chance came to him, he decided to take it. Even though he ended up leaving his sister alone, he wanted to provide a better living condition for her and their mother.

"It's funny that the little sister got married first."

"Well, I still can't get out of my position, so you have to wait, Lin'er."

Xiao Lin nodded. She knew his position and responsibility, so she would not pressure him. Besides, she was content seeing him happier with his work near his sister now.

"Oh, the bell."

The bell signified that the ceremony would start. Feng Mian was already ready and her friends rushed to enter the hall. Yu Yan sat in the third row since the first and second row were for families. Beside her, Long Ying looked at her with inquiries because Yu Yan looked so excited.

"You seem happy."

"Of course I'm happy! My best friend is going to get married today," Yu Yan replied. She shot a glare at Long Ying, annoyed that he didn't understand something so simple.

Long Ying put on a smile and held Yu Yan's hand. He was not a romantic person, but if Yu Yan wanted him to be one, he would learn.

Right now, Yu Yan was looking at the front with a bright smile on her face. Finally, her best friend could have a marriage ceremony. Someday, she too would surely reach her own happiness.

Zhang Liang was already walking to the center. There were a lot of guests around him, looking at Zhang Liang as he walked to the front. He was dressed up nicely with the suit and all. However, his face was solemn with a tinge of happiness in his eyes.

By this time, Lu Di La had already seated back in her place beside Zhang Xue. Seeing his wife, Zhang Xue slipped an arm to hold her hand tightly.

After the groom, the bride would come in. Because Feng Mian didn't have any parents anymore, the one who accompanied her was her brother. Feng Shao held Feng Mian's hand and sighed lightly.

Feng Mian giggled. "I'm already married, Gege."

Feng Shao merely smiled. As they reached the front, he looked at Zhang Liang and mouthed out. 'Take care of her well.'

'I will.'

Feng Mian stood nervously. She was trying to calm down but right now, many memories were flooding into her mind. From the moment she met with Zhang Liang up until now, there were so many things that have happened.

At first, it was nothing more than a marriage contract between the two of them. There was no plan for them to become a real couple as they set the time to be for a year. However, as they interacted with each other, they came to realize that they were attracted to each other.

Despite their differences, there were also similarities.

She had to learn to be able to stay in his world and he acted accordingly, fulfilling her wishes and staying near her.

"State your vows."

Feng Mian was back to the present as she looked at Zhang Liang. The groom would usually be the first one.

The priest nodded and looked at Feng Mian. "Now, from the bride's side."

Feng Mian heaved a breath. She stared straight at Zhang Liang's eyes from within her veil.

"I, Feng Mian, take Zhang Liang as my lawfully wedded husband. I promise before our families and friends to be your faithful wife. I promise to respect, admire, and appreciate you for who you are as well as the person who wishes to become. I'll support and strive to meet your needs, not because of obligation, but because it delights me to see you happy. For the rest of my life, I'll accompany you and give you all my love until the end of my life."

The two of them looked at one another. They have a completely different life, different goals, and different ways when they do things. However, despite their differences, they decided to stay together. They would stand together side by side for the rest of their lives.

One year ago, they were nothing more than strangers who didn't even see eyes to eyes for more than a few minutes. But in one year, they learned so many things about each other.

This is one year of their beginning, the start of their story. The one year that brought them together for the rest of their lives.

"You may kiss the bride."

Zhang Liang opened the veil and lightly pulled Feng Mian tenderly. Feng Mian raised her head and tiptoed slightly.

Their lips met in the middle.

Hey everyone, this is the last chapter for 1 Year of Beginning. It felt long yet at the same time short. The story genuinely just focused more on the two protagonists, which was a bit hard for me to do since I usually loved to add more on the views of other characters.

At the same time, this is the first time I make a story that's pure romance. I have to admit, it's quite a challenge for me, yet it was a fun and entertaining journey with all of you so far.

Ever since I first posted the novel, I think not even one year had passed (but more than a few months should have already passed), yet in the novel it's already one year. It might be interesting to see more of Zhang Liang and Feng Mian's life, but it's already time to part from the two and let them have their marriage life blissfully.
