Hearing that, the headmaster becomes worried, while Ard's parents feel proud of him. Olhide supports Ard as well, and offers to help him defeat Elzard. He takes Ard to the royal treasury and tells him to use anything he needs without asking any questions for the time being, which leaves Ard's father, Jack, concerned.
As Ard enters the treasury, Jack and Olhide remain outside, and there Jack asks whether it is really a good idea to let Ard learn the truth about Olhide and his daughter, Ireina. Olhide says that it is, explaining that Ard is the only true friend Ireina has, and that he deserves to know the truth.
Meanwhile Ireina wakes inside a cave and finds herself trapped within a magic barrier created by Elzard. The monster tells her that the ritual should begin soon, because she wants the blood that runs through Ireina's family. Hearing this, Ireina is shocked, because it means that Elzard knows the truth about her family.
Elzard then reveals the Orphan of Chaos, and explains that she plans to feed it Ireina's blood, which will be used to revive one of the evil gods. Ireina is terrified, but she insists that Ard will come to rescue her. Elzard simply asks whether Ard would still come after learning the truth about her, and that question completely shatters Ireina's confidence.
Elzard then begins the ritual, removing the barrier and ordering the Orphan of Chaos to devour Ireina. As the Orphan of Chaos slowly moves toward her, Ard is gathering all the essential items from the royal treasury and preparing to leave to rescue her.
Jinny stops him and asks to come along, explaining that Ireina called her a friend and saved her life from Elzard. Ard insists that Jinny should not come, and assures her that he will bring Ireina back safely. He begins to fly away — and then, just before leaving, he looks back at Jinny and tells her that he considers her a friend as well. Hearing those words, Jinny is overwhelmed with happiness and starts crying tears of joy.
Ard then takes off toward the place where Ireina is surrounded by monsters, while Elzard laughs and the Orphan of Chaos prepares to devour her. Just before the Orphan of Chaos can even touch Ireina, however, Ard arrives at the perfect moment and uses his magic to reduce the monster to ashes with a single attack. He lands on the ground and casts the nine spell to wipe out all the surrounding monsters, while Elzard avoids the attack by flying high into the air and watching from above. Ard rushes over to Ireina and breaks her magic handcuffs, leaving her relieved and overjoyed as she hugs him tightly.
Elzard prepares for battle while Ard assures Ireina that she has nothing to fear, promising that he will protect her at any cost. Hearing that, Elzard reveals the truth about Ireina: she carries the blood of the evil gods. Elzard tells him this in the hope that Ard will abandon her. It is also true that Olhide and Ireina both belong to the royal family, and that Olhide secretly rules the nation while keeping his own identity hidden behind the queen. He knows that the people of the country would revolt if they learned the truth about their bloodline, which is why both Olhide and Ireina have to hide who they are.
Ireina believes that Ard will abandon her now that he has heard the truth. Instead Ard declares that he will go on protecting her, because she is the kindest and most courageous woman he has ever met, and because it makes no difference to him if she carries the blood of an evil god.
Enraged by his answer, Elzard unleashes a lightning attack at Ard, but he blocks it easily with his spear. As Elzard attacks once again, Ard dodges the strike and counters with a powerful fire spell, which Elzard fails to evade. While Elzard is left slightly injured, Ard throws his spear at her, and it pierces her body and sends her flying high into the sky from the force of it.
Believing that the fight is over, Ireina happily hugs Ard. But Ard senses that something is wrong, and a moment later Elzard transforms into a gigantic monster and emerges from the sky. Ard tells Ireina to close her eyes and not to watch the fight any longer as Elzard unleashes her next attack. He protects them both with a magic barrier, and then chants a spell to summon Lydia.
Using Lydia's powers to enhance both his offense and his defense, he leaves Elzard stunned by his overwhelming strength while he prepares for the next exchange. He flies into the air and challenges her to attack with everything she has. With Lydia's abilities, Ard carefully analyzes Elzard's fighting pattern before launching his own attack. Elzard manages to dodge it easily, and tries to provoke Ard by claiming that he and Ireina are both monsters, and that in the end the two of them will betray each other.
Ard remains unfazed, and asks Lydia to activate Brave Demon Full Body, transforming himself before countering Elzard's attack effortlessly. He then uses her own technique against her, leaving Elzard completely confused as she fails to dodge it at such close range. Furious, Elzard prepares her ultimate attack, which gives Ard the perfect opportunity to do the same. With Lydia's help he prepares the technique Ultimatum Zero and fires it at Elzard.
The attack easily overpowers her signature move, and with it Ard defeats her. After the battle he tells Lydia to return to his soul, and lands back on the ground. There Ireina excitedly praises Ard for defeating Elzard so easily. Ard smiles and suggests that they should head back home, while Ireina quietly realizes that she needs to become stronger if she wants to stand beside him — especially after he chose to accept her as a friend even after learning the truth about her.
