Several days later, medical examinations revealed another disturbing discovery. Baitang had been permanently marked before his scent glands had fully developed, a process that would have been unimaginably painful. He remembered the day Yunsu forcibly marked him so that he would remain bound to him forever.
The abnormal development of his glands could have been caused either by violent damage or by an improperly performed marking. However, determining the exact cause would require specialized gland examinations. Unfortunately, those tests would take several more days to arrange. As soon as he learned the results, Yunshu rushed to reassure Baitang and promised once again that he would take responsibility for him.
Because one of Yunshu's former patients had suffered from bone cancer, he also arranged a complete bone examination for Baitang. The results were heartbreaking. Numerous bones had been broken and healed improperly, while others showed evidence of old fractures. The doctors found it difficult to reconcile those injuries with the gentle man standing before them.
The good news was that Baitang showed no signs of cancer. The bad news was that his wrist had suffered severe damage and would likely require medical intervention.
Yunshu was furious. It angered him that the original Yunsu had died before facing any consequences for his actions. The expression on his face became so dark that it frightened Baitang. The moment he noticed, Yunshu quickly calmed himself so he would not scare him further.
Eventually, Baitang was discharged from the hospital. Yunshu announced that he wanted to take him somewhere special. During the drive, Baitang became increasingly nervous. The road they were taking was not the route home. Fearing the worst, he asked if Yunshu had recovered his memories. In his mind, the alpha might finally be planning to abandon him.
Instead, Yunshu revealed a surprise. He had sold the old house and purchased a new one. Moving there would symbolize a fresh start and a new life for both of them. There was no reason for Baitang to fear being abandoned.
Like a true gentleman, Yunshu helped the omega out of the car and showed him their beautiful new home. Then, with a smile, he asked whether he was afraid of dogs, because he had one more surprise waiting for him.
The surprise turned out to be an adorable little puppy. Although Baitang knew that the original Yunsu had hated animals, he was amazed to hear Yunshu say that from now on they would raise the puppy together as a new member of the family. The omega was overjoyed. More importantly, he knew Yunshu would never hurt his own pet.
Since the puppy seemed especially attached to Baitang, Yunshu insisted that he should be the one to choose its name. At first, Baitang refused and tried to leave the decision to Yunshu. However, after both the alpha and the puppy seemed to insist, he finally named him Hongtang. The name matched his own in a meaningful way. Baitang's name meant white sugar, while Hongtang meant brown sugar.
The omega could barely contain his happiness. In his eyes, little Hongtang would grow up to become a majestic protector.
When they entered their new home, they were greeted by Aunt Chen, the housekeeper. She looked remarkably similar to Baitang's late grandmother. She would be responsible for the household chores and would always be available whenever help was needed. Even then, Baitang worried that if he no longer contributed to the house, he would become useless. Sensing where his thoughts were heading, Yunshu quickly interrupted them and told him that tonight he would get to try Aunt Chen's delicious cooking.
Soon, Hongtang's excited barking sent them hurrying upstairs to Baitang's new room. From now on, the puppy would sleep beside him so he would never feel lonely at night. The room overlooked a beautiful garden, visible through the window. Yunshu told him he could plant any flowers he wanted there, and even build a large swing where he and Hongtang could play together. He promised that he would happily help with everything.
To Baitang, it felt like a beautiful dream. For the first time, he found himself wondering whether he could trust Yunshu again.
At that moment, Yunshu received a phone call. It was apparently from one of the original Yunsu's friends. Without even waiting for an answer, the caller informed him that a celebration had been organized that evening to welcome him back after leaving the hospital, and immediately sent him the time and address. Yunshu had not even agreed to attend.
Unfortunately, Baitang overheard enough to realize that Yunshu was still in contact with those people. Deep down, he feared that one day this wonderful dream would end. The moment Yunshu regained his memories, everything would return to the way it had been before.
That evening, Yunshu arrived at the address. It was a nightclub. As a married man, he already felt he should not have been there. Inside a private room, he found the man who had invited him.
The moment they met, the man noticed that Yunshu was keeping his distance. Confused, he wondered why President Jang was acting so strangely, and assured him that a little fun at the club would improve his mood. Many people greeted him like a regular customer. Around them, various inappropriate activities were taking place.
Another acquaintance proudly announced that he had prepared a special gift for President Jang. The gift was a badly mistreated young omega, who was desperately begging to be released. One of the men suggested that Yunshu should enjoy himself with the omega first, and that everyone else could take their turn afterward.
When Yunshu immediately moved toward the young omega, they assumed he was eager to participate. Thankfully, they were completely wrong. Without hesitation, Yunshu kicked the second man hard enough to send him sprawling. Then he helped the omega to safety. He informed them that they could enjoy themselves without him, because he would never participate in such things again.
