Chapter 4The Jacket He Left Behind

Meanwhile, in Baitang's hospital room, Yunshu researched the proper use of pheromones. Although the method felt somewhat inappropriate to him, he learned that it could help ease an omega's emotional distress. The reason he considered it inappropriate was that in some situations, releasing pheromones involved creating a temporary mark on the scent glands located at the back of an omega's neck. The treatment also involved stimulating the scent glands and encouraging the release of calming pheromones.

When Yunshu reacted to Baitang's pheromones, he felt an unfamiliar connection, as if something was tying him to the omega and making him reluctant to leave his side.

Once the treatment was finished, Yunshu quietly left the room so he would not frighten Baitang when he woke up. Before leaving, he draped his jacket over him as proof that he had stayed by his side.

When Baitang finally opened his eyes, the scent lingering on the jacket brought him a strange sense of comfort. However, that comfort was quickly replaced by psychological nausea caused by Yunshu's pheromones. Thinking the alpha would be offended if he felt disgusted by them, Baitang curled up and began apologizing repeatedly, before realizing that nobody was in the room.

Soon, a nurse entered carrying blankets that Yunshu had sent for him, along with a pair of warm and comfortable slippers so he would not catch a cold while walking around. The nurse was amazed. It was the first time she had ever seen an alpha be so attentive toward his partner.

Of course, Baitang found the situation unbelievable. Yunshu had bought him so many things, and had even prepared food for him himself. The nurse also relayed a message Yunshu had left. At first, Baitang assumed it would be a warning or a threat. Instead, the message simply said that Yunshu hoped he would recover soon and stop being afraid, because they would be returning home together.

Suspicious, Baitang wondered if the food had been poisoned. In the end, he decided that starving would be worse than taking the risk, and began eating.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kim discussed the situation with his spouse, wondering whether amnesia could truly change a person so drastically. He recalled meeting the original Yunsu at a social event. The man had appeared charming and pleasant in public, only for Dr. Kim to later overhear him speaking about horrible things before effortlessly returning to his friendly facade. Although human nature was difficult to change, Dr. Kim found it equally difficult to believe that Yunshu had fabricated such an elaborate story simply to deceive a psychiatrist.

His spouse pointed out that people who seem perfect are often hiding something beneath the surface. The entire case fascinated Dr. Kim. After all, Yunsu had been declared brain dead after the accident, only to recover unexpectedly later. The previous diagnosis had ultimately been dismissed as a mistake.

Elsewhere in the city, Yunshu sat in the office of Yunsu's company, completely lost. He could barely understand any of the business documents in front of him. His secretary, however, was delighted to see him back, and was already hoping for a generous bonus after working so hard while his boss had been absent.

Claiming amnesia, Yunshu decided to reject all new design projects for the time being, while the employees continued their normal work. Instead, he planned to hire talented designers with original styles to keep the company running while he focused on management. More importantly, he had resumed studying medicine and intended to take the post-graduate examinations. He had no intention of letting business interfere with his plans.

Later, Dr. Kim called to inform him that his spouse had agreed to become Baitang's psychiatrist. As a result, they arranged a meeting.

When they met, Dr. Kim introduced his spouse, Professor Shu. Yunshu politely offered a handshake, but the omega ignored it completely. According to Dr. Kim, his spouse was an omega rights activist, and people like Yunsu were exactly the type he despised. Honestly, Yunshu could not blame him.

From the moment they met, Professor Shu carefully analyzed every one of his actions. Although Yunshu sincerely thanked him for agreeing to help Baitang, the professor dismissed him as a hypocrite. In his eyes, Yunshu was only helping his omega because it benefited him. Meanwhile, Dr. Kim looked strangely proud of every sharp remark his spouse made.

Regarding Yunshu's supposed amnesia, Professor Shu bluntly stated that people who commit evil eventually receive punishment. By now, Yunshu had realized the professor was deliberately trying to expose his true nature. Unfortunately for him, the original Yunsu was gone. Calmly, Yunshu repeated that his only goal was to help Baitang recover.

Seeing that he maintained eye contact and appeared completely sincere, the professor finally handed him a treatment schedule. Therapy sessions would take place every day at three o'clock in the afternoon.

When Professor Shu introduced himself to Baitang as his new doctor, he immediately tried to put him at ease. Since they were both omegas, Baitang did not need to be cautious around him and could simply think of him as a friend. He gave Baitang a fruit drink mixed with medication to stabilize his emotional state during treatment.

Soon they began hypnosis therapy. Through the sessions, Baitang revealed painful details about his past. When he first presented as an omega, his parents abandoned him. After that, he lived with his grandmother, who worked tirelessly to save enough money to send him to Fanqi Academy. Coincidentally, Professor Shu had once attended the same school. Fanqi Academy was known for teaching omegas to become independent and confident rather than submissive.

Sadly, Baitang never completed his studies. After his grandmother passed away, he could no longer afford tuition. Deep down, he had never wanted to leave school. However, he had fallen in love with Yunsu and believed the lies he told him. Yunsu convinced him that an omega's duty was to remain at home caring for a husband and future children. By the time Baitang realized those words were nothing more than manipulation designed to clip his wings, it was already too late.

When the hypnosis session ended, Baitang looked exhausted. The treatment had revealed just how severely his psychological trauma was destroying his spirit. Professor Shu knew he needed to develop a specialized treatment plan as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, Yunshu waited outside. The first thing he asked was whether Baitang was all right. The question irritated the professor. Coming from the very person responsible for all of Baitang's suffering, it sounded almost insulting. No matter how many apologies Yunshu offered, Baitang's recovery ultimately depended on the alpha's actions.

Knowing that Baitang loved animals, the professor suggested getting him a pet to support his emotional healing. Yunshu gratefully accepted every piece of advice and soon left to prepare dinner.

Over time, Professor Shu noticed something strange. The man Baitang described and the man standing before him seemed like two completely different people.

To help Baitang feel less isolated, the professor regularly sent him messages and pictures of his cat. One day, as Baitang was looking through them, he heard the door open. Immediately, he hid the phone beneath his pillow and nervously went to greet Yunshu. Since the floor was cold, Yunshu simply picked him up and carried him back to the bed. He carefully helped him put on his slippers, explaining that it would aid his recovery.

When Baitang mentioned that Professor Shu had given him a phone, he immediately began apologizing, worried about how Yunshu might react. Remaining calm, Yunshu explained that he had personally given the phone to the professor so it could be passed on to him. For the first time in a very long while, Baitang was allowed to communicate with the outside world.

Then Yunshu revealed that he had a gift for him. When Baitang saw it, he was speechless. The old diamond-studded handcuffs had been sold, and the money — one hundred and seventy thousand yuan — had been donated to Fanqi Academy in Baitang's name.

Tears immediately filled his eyes. For the first time, he began to believe that Yunshu might truly have lost his memories. The way he spoke, the things he said, and the choices he made all felt completely different.
