Chapter 15Midnight at the Condominium

But some of them were still chasing Woojin, because he had become famous overnight.

Kajun came from a wealthy family, so he had come by car, and Woojin sat in it with him. As the car started, Woojin leaned back on the seat and said thankfully that he had finally got rid of that chasing group. Kajun laughed and said it was all right.

Then he asked whether Woojin wanted to go home. If so, he could give the driver the address.

Woojin thought for a while and said they should go to Kajun's house.

Kajun was shocked.

Woojin explained that after everything that had happened today, he had drawn a lot of attention, and there was always a chance that somebody might try to target him. Kajun's house was safer than his own, because Kajun's father was an SS rank challenger.

Kajun immediately agreed. In fact, he looked very happy. The genius of the century was really going to stay at his house. In his heart he thought he should take hundreds of photographs to keep as a memory.

Woojin joked that he had worked so hard to escape his fans, and it had turned out that Kajun was one of them.

At that same moment a notification appeared in front of Woojin. Two new messages.

First: rank mission. Complete the mission to obtain an A rank saber. Condition: cross a B rank dungeon alone.

Second: because the host has been reborn, he would be given the opportunity to choose his class again.

Woojin quietly ignored these messages and began thinking. Crossing a B rank dungeon alone was normally impossible to do. Even with the no-level system, it was extremely dangerous.

Although the other notification made him think further, because he had already decided to change his weapon. Perhaps the class should be reconsidered as well. His original class had belonged to the swordsman. It was more suitable for light swords than for heavy ones.

He decided not to think too much about it for now. There was something else to do first.

After a moment of silence, Woojin suddenly spoke. Kajun, could they stop somewhere else before going home?

Kajun immediately grew worried. He said that if there was any problem, he would not bother him.

Woojin nodded. That was not the point. He only wanted to meet someone, and afterwards Kajun could send someone to pick him up.

A little while later the car stopped in front of a condominium building. Woojin got out and went inside.

As he entered the building, he thought to himself that there was only one person in the world with whom he could speak honestly, without hiding anything.

Yet when he finally reached that apartment door, his hand hesitated for a moment in the air. Then he knocked softly.

A quiet knocking sound echoed in the corridor. For a few seconds there was no response. Then a voice came from inside.

Woojin waited outside, trying to compose himself, and yet somehow there was a strange uneasiness in him.

The very next moment the door opened, and as Woojin saw the man standing there, his entire body froze.

It was Yanshi.

For a moment neither of them moved. Woojin could not make sense of what he was seeing. Why was Yanshi here? This should have been Ling's house. Yanshi, too, had not expected to see anyone at this hour.

Woojin stood outside the door with clear surprise on his face.

Before either of them could say anything, Ling suddenly appeared from behind Yanshi. Peering out curiously, she asked who he was talking to.

Then Yanshi looked coldly at Woojin and asked, really, you? And then he questioned him. Why had he come to someone else's fiancée's house at midnight?

Hearing this, Woojin was angry, and troubled as well. But of course, he could not tell them his true identity. So he quickly made up a story.

He said that he was actually Hanu's adopted younger brother. He explained that his brother had never mentioned it publicly in all those years, so Ling probably would not know about him. Today he had come to give her something.

Hearing this, Ling's face changed. A trace of sadness came into her eyes.

Woojin continued. This was an important personal thing that had belonged to his brother before his death, and that had been in his care until now.

Yanshi heard this and thought to himself: now I understand something. That was why this boy had seemed so similar to him. If he really was Hanu's adopted younger brother, then some resemblance was not surprising.

Then Yanshi acted very naturally. He said that Hanu had indeed mentioned this younger brother many times, and that he remembered hearing about him. And so he invited Woojin to come inside.

Woojin thought to himself that this man could not stop acting even for a moment.

All three of them went inside the apartment. Woojin quietly surveyed the whole place. This was somewhere he had once known so well. Many things inside were exactly as they had been before. There had not been much change in the decoration.

But the person standing here was different.

After a while, Woojin suddenly spoke. He asked a question. Earlier, you clearly said that Ling is someone else's fiancée. If that is so, then why are you here at this hour?

Yanshi was a little surprised by the question. He looked towards Woojin for a moment, and then laughed slightly.

He spoke in a calm tone, as if the situation were absolutely normal. There must have been some misunderstanding. The one he had called someone else's fiancé was actually himself. He was Ling's fiancé.

These words hit Woojin like a sudden shock. For a moment his mind went completely blank. His body froze.

The person he loved, the woman who had supported him throughout his life, was engaged to that man. The one who had betrayed him.

Before coming here he had thought through many possibilities, but this had not been one of them.

Yanshi said calmly that in a month he and Ling would be married.

Those words pierced Woojin's heart. They stung like a sword. Not for Hanu. For the human being who now lived as Woojin. It was almost unbearable.

Before Woojin could say anything, Ling suddenly reacted. Her face turned red with anger and she refused it immediately. She had never said yes to any marriage. Her parents had no right to decide this for her. She told him to stop spreading rumours. Her voice was filled with anger and disbelief.

But Yanshi stayed completely quiet. Almost smiling at her reaction, he simply said that as far as he knew, Ling's parents had started sending out the wedding invitations that morning. School, relatives, family, friends — one by one, everyone had received the news.
