Chapter 16The Small Red Box

Ling looked at him in disbelief. Was this true?

Yanshi nodded carelessly. Then he said something that made the atmosphere even heavier. During the six years of her relationship, her parents had never been so active about anything. But now they were taking steps so quickly. As if, in their eyes, Yanshi was more suitable than the man who had come before him.

There was clearly a hidden meaning in the words. Inside, Ling's face was burning with anger.

For a few moments there was a strange silence in the room.

Then suddenly Woojin laughed. His laughter startled both of them. He laughed as if Yanshi had just said something very funny.

He said that now he understood something. No wonder Brother Hanu had always kept Yanshi under control. And no wonder Hanu had managed to stay with Sister Ling.

Saying this, Woojin walked casually past him and patted Yanshi's chest gently. The tone was joking, but the words were sharp.

He said that if he were Sister Ling, he would not be ready to marry Yanshi either. After all, every second sentence that came out of Yanshi's mouth seemed to be connected to her parents.

Woojin leaned back comfortably on the sofa. He looked completely at ease. Then he added one more thing. If some outsider heard him talk, she might think he was not really trying to win Ling at all, but that he was trying to start a love triangle with her parents.

The comment immediately irritated Yanshi, but Ling was surprised too. She stared at Woojin. She could not tell whether he was joking or serious. For some reason, the way he spoke seemed strangely familiar to her.

Suddenly an old memory came into Ling's mind. The memory of a time when Hanu was alive. They had been sitting together in this apartment, on this very sofa, and at that time Hanu had been talking with her about her parents. He had joked that if things did not work out with her parents, then it did not matter. He was not trying to start a love triangle with them anyway.

That memory made Ling pause for a moment. That was why Woojin's words felt so familiar to her. She could not have explained why. But there was something about this boy that kept reminding her of him. And yet Hanu had never once mentioned a younger brother.

Yanshi interrupted the conversation and said to Woojin that he had come to give something, so he should give it.

Woojin tilted his head slightly and smiled. So he really wanted to assert his authority over a fifteen-year-old child? That looked quite aggressive of him.

Then Woojin slowly pulled out a small red box. He held it carefully in his hand. There was a subtle change in his voice.

Before his death, Hanu had instructed him himself that this item should be given only to Sister Ling, and to her alone. They did not want any outsider present there.

Saying this, Woojin looked directly to the side. There was a hidden message in his eyes.

Then he said it was strange. He had been sure that Hanu would deliver this himself, but it seemed Hanu had met with an unexpected accident, and there had been no time left.

Yanshi coughed lightly. He had clearly understood Woojin's signal.

Meanwhile the tears had started flowing from Ling's eyes. She wiped them away and gently said that Yanshi should go back. Hanu's memento was very important to her. She wanted to take it alone.

Yanshi was surprised, but he had no reason to refuse. So he picked up his jacket, and while he was putting it on, he remembered one last thing. The wedding invitations had already been sent out. If Ling thought of changing anything now, the consequences for her parents would not be easy to handle.

Hearing this, Ling felt a strange uneasiness in her stomach. Everything was happening so fast that she still could not process it.

Yanshi went to the apartment door and left.

The door closed, and now there were only Woojin and Ling in the room.

Woojin put the small red box on the table. Then in a calm voice he said that the bastard was probably waiting outside in the hallway. So he would leave through the study window.

Ling was shocked. How did he know about the window of the study room?

Suddenly another memory came into her mind. Hanu used to come to meet her secretly. Once, her parents had suddenly knocked on the door. She had quickly told Hanu to escape through the study room window, because from there he could reach the roof without being caught.

Ling looked at Woojin again. How did this boy know about that?

By then Woojin had reached the study room. He opened the window and looked outside, measuring the distance to the roof. He turned before leaving and said one last thing.

See you.

Those simple words made Ling cry instantly. Because whenever Hanu went out of that window, he had said exactly that.

With tears in her eyes, she stood in front of the open window inside the apartment. She did not move for quite a while.

Meanwhile, on the roof of the condominium, Woojin sat on the edge of the building. From there the entire city lay spread out before him.

His mind was on one thing. Only one month was left before the marriage. In that short time, he had to find a way to gain an edge over Yanshi and the rest of them. Whatever happened, that marriage would have to be stopped.

As soon as he thought this, a notification appeared in front of his eyes.

First mission. Complete the mission to obtain an A rank saber. Condition: cross a B rank dungeon alone.

Woojin frowned slightly as he read it. In truth he had had a different plan. He had wanted to complete the class change mission first. Doing it that way, he could have chosen a profession more suited to the heavy saber style he had recently decided to adopt. His old swordsman class had been made for light sabers, not for heavy weapons.

But now the situation had changed, and time was not on his side. If he had to challenge Yanshi and stop the wedding, then it was important to get strong as quickly as possible. There was no scope for hesitation now.

Woojin slowly put his hand in his pocket and took out the black card the principal had given him. He looked at it for a while, then put the card back and took out his phone. He dialled Kajun's number. The call connected immediately.

On the other end, Kajun immediately asked whether he should come and pick him up. But Woojin asked something else. He asked whether Kajun could help him find a B rank dungeon nearby that no one had claimed yet.

Kajun was a little confused, but he immediately started searching. He found one within a few moments. Then he asked what plans Woojin was making.

Woojin did not hesitate for a moment. He replied calmly that he was going to challenge that dungeon alone. A solo clear.

Even after saying these words, he held the card tightly in his hand.

Outside the condominium building, Kajun's driver was still waiting. The night air had grown colder. He was shivering, and he began thinking to himself, why has this boy still not come down? He said softly to himself, is it a good thing to spend the whole night on a roof making plans?
