Chapter 6Advice on a Bench

The next day, the scene shifted to an isolated house where illegal activities apparently took place. Inside, Shin was tied up and being brutally beaten by Pakito.

Pakito demanded to know whether a beta like Shin had really become attached to a troublesome omega like Sher, and asked how Sher had managed to make him betray his trust. With blood on his face, Shin could do nothing but apologize and admit that he had no excuse for his actions. Seeing that Shin had no defense, Pakito decided to deal with him accordingly.

Meanwhile, back at the condominium, Sher reflected on recent events. He considered himself lucky to have survived his last encounter with Pakito. Although his physical and emotional condition was so miserable that anyone would have felt sorry for him, he comforted himself by realizing that Pakito had never actually called his father.

That made him wonder whether Pakito had only been trying to scare him, or was perhaps thinking of a different way to kill him. However, another concern began bothering him. Could he actually die in this game? Since he had never finished the original game before dying in his previous life, he had no idea what kind of ending awaited him.

The system interrupted his thoughts and reminded him to be careful with the choices he made, because numerous bad endings were possible. Sher thanked the system for the advice while simultaneously cursing it for being so unhelpful.

Deciding to clear his head, he took a walk around the condominium and eventually sat on a bench with some snacks. Suddenly, two children approached him and recognized him. These children had witnessed Pakito punching him at the gym. At first Sher was confused, but they quickly confirmed that they were indeed talking about him.

By pure coincidence, Pakito happened to be passing by nearby and overheard the conversation. The moment he heard them mention Sher, he instinctively touched his nose while remembering the previous day's incident, and wondered what Sher could possibly be discussing with a couple of kids.

The children started questioning Sher about his bravery in confronting Pakito. They asked why someone like him would ever be interested in a person like Pakito. Feeling slightly embarrassed, Sher replied that he had practically been forced into it. The children asked who had forced him. Sher answered, "A system called love."

The children were not satisfied with that answer. They pointed out that after being beaten and thrown out like garbage, the logical thing would be to stay away from someone like Pakito. They even claimed that alphas who enjoy hitting omegas are trash, because they think they are superior.

Sher could not help laughing internally. Privately, he admitted that he actually agreed with them.

At that moment, the system announced a new side mission. Defend your man. To complete it, Sher had to earn ten persuasion points by defending the dignity of his future husband. Failure would make Pakito's bad temper even harder to manage, while success would grant a random reward card. After some consideration, Sher accepted the mission.

The children continued criticizing Pakito, pointing out that his karaoke establishment even allowed underage students to drink alcohol. Nearby, Pakito listened to the conversation while becoming increasingly annoyed.

Sher asked whether that was really supposed to surprise anyone. Then he said that in his opinion, Pakito was actually even worse.

The children froze. Pakito froze too.

Sher continued mercilessly listing insults. According to him, Pakito was arrogant, shameless, a violent criminal and a complete snake. He claimed that Pakito thought he was superior because he had money, even though he had not been in business very long and still acted like an overgrown baby pretending to be some powerful tycoon.

Pakito grew even angrier. The system immediately informed Sher that he had lost five persuasion points.

Undeterred, Sher kept going. He said that Pakito was extreme, disrespectful, and had probably acted like the leader of a gang during his school days, carrying that same personality into adulthood. The system announced that Sher had now fallen to minus ten persuasion points.

The children, impressed by how much he knew about Pakito, asked where he had learned all those details. Sher replied that it was thanks to the power of love. In reality, it was because he had read the game's character information.

The children became even more surprised when Sher insisted that he still loved Pakito despite everything. Sher explained that when choosing someone for a relationship, superficial traits are not what matter. What truly matters is compatibility. This statement caused the system to award him five persuasion points.

The children began reflecting on his words. They admitted that people always told them to seek out good people, but now they understood that relationships involve more than that. With a gentle smile, Sher explained that he had always been fascinated by toxic, violent protagonists, and that he had a weakness for giant red flags. The children somehow found this explanation inspiring. The system notified him that he had reached seven persuasion points.

Finally, the children remembered that at the gym, Sher had been the one who approached Pakito first. They also pointed out that despite being difficult, Pakito must have some positive qualities if he kept agreeing to interact with Sher. From their perspective, Pakito might actually be a decent person.

At this point, someone should probably have stopped these children from taking relationship advice from Sher.

Their conclusion granted Sher the final persuasion points needed to complete the mission. Pakito was genuinely surprised that Sher had somehow managed to convince them.

Excited, the children encouraged Sher to find someone who treated him well, and told him that one day he would discover true love. They even showed him a video about increasing pain tolerance and gave him protein powder, so that he could become stronger and better withstand Pakito's beatings.

Meanwhile, Pakito was practically summoning Satan himself from the amount of anger he felt. He thought that although Sher was the younger brother of the famous twins Bomb and Bai, he acted as if he knew everything about him, when in reality he knew nothing at all. Calling him a nuisance, Pakito decided that if Sher wanted to play games with him, then he had better not regret what happened next.

Something interesting was happening, though. Pakito seemed to have a weakness for people like Sher, because his affection meter quietly increased by half a heart.

A flashback then showed a young Pakito with a sad expression. His mother had suffered from severe postpartum depression and had eventually taken her own life. After that, Pakito grew up in poverty under a father who constantly taught him that strength was the only way to survive. Even the few people who tried to help their family ended up getting hurt themselves. Although these were not the only factors that shaped him, they were enough to explain why Pakito had learned to keep everyone at a distance and rely only on himself.

Back in the present, Pakito was still furious about everything Sher had said in front of the children. Yet, instead of avoiding him, he decided to continue playing this game with him. He warned Sher not to blame him for whatever unpleasant things might happen later.
