Yuka quickly worked out that the barrier was repelling anyone with too much cursed energy, which was why the blade had not made it through.
As for Sudugi, it was not that her brother had no cursed energy at all. He was a special case, in a similar way to their grandmother. He was a sorcerer with an extremely low amount of cursed energy, which was exactly why he needed to wield a blade in the first place.
Maru started to panic, saying it was like the moment when the hunter becomes the prey. Yuka got him to settle back down. In her eyes, they would do what Sudugi had said and go and inform Usami about what was happening. A little concerned about simply leaving him there, Maru asked about calling him on the phone instead, and was told that Usami was in Tokyo.
If there was a free sorcerer nearby, she was sure they would swing by.
Knowing that this was not right, that you could not just leave your own brother in there, Maru spoke up to tell her so, and was immediately screamed down by Yuka.
Standing on his own two feet, Maru screamed back that if something did happen to Sudugi, she would regret it for the rest of her life. He might have a change of heart someday. But if he died now, that could never happen.
Yuka, unable to get over the fact that this man had shown up out of nowhere and was now trying to tell her how to act, told him to stop pushing his ideals onto her.
Unable to understand what was wrong with having ideals, Maru said that if someone could not live up to his ideals, he was the only one who got hurt by it, not anybody else. He might even be humiliated or wounded for them. But if she was going to give up on her ideals, then she should probably do it after she had been hurt and humiliated herself. He had not given up on his big brother yet, and he would be damned if she gave up on hers.
Lowering her head, Yuka said she would not save him.
No. Instead, she was going to beat him into the ground.
Inside that same talisman-filled room from earlier, the man was speaking to Sudugi about the grid pattern of Kyoto's roads, and how compatible he had always found it with his barrier technique.
Speaking up, Sudugi called him an idiot for deciding to set up his kidnapping business next door to Jujutsu High. The man was unfazed. He admitted that he was going to quit the trafficking business anyway.
Since Sudugi was a jujutsu sorcerer, the man assumed he had heard about what was going on. That only confused the young man, who genuinely did not have a clue what he meant.
Then the kidnapper dropped it on him. Aliens had come.
A silence rang through the room until Sudugi broke it, accusing the man of being an insane, tinfoil-hat-wearing lunatic.
The kidnapper continued anyway. The inspector generals had declared the extraterrestrial arrival a special grade incident, on par with that of Ryomen Sukuna sixty-eight years earlier. Ever since the Kyoto Paranormal Security Treaty had been enacted, all diplomacy with aliens had been left up to Japan. That being the case, he believed that the cultural barriers between them were such that the aliens would start a war and invade Earth.
To the kidnapper, the diplomatic mission and the coming war would truly expose Japan's colours to the world. Sixty-eight years earlier, the Culling Games had occurred, prompting the signing of a treaty between Earth's greatest nations. Satoru Gojo and Yuji Itadori had put a stop to the threat at the time. However, time had gone on, and nobody these days came anywhere close to comparing to them.
Once the world found out how weak sorcerers had become, his shady new energy business would come to a very quick conclusion. That was why his plan was to make one last big sale and profit from it, specifically by selling Sudugi.
Sudugi, with a smirk on his face, asked if he and the kid were the sale, and was quickly told no, as a garage door began to open.
Behind the man, it was revealed that he had already bagged and tagged a whole group of children, ready to be put up for auction.
Jaded by his own situation, Sudugi called him a pathetic adult who could not even hold down an honest job. The kidnapper kicked the defenceless student in the head and told him to stop acting tough. He was in the old part of town now, a specific area that had been left to rot ever since Yuji Itadori's days. The man begged him to scream for his life, because nobody was going to save him.
At that exact moment, the nearby door came flying off its hinges, smashing into the kidnapper and knocking him to the floor.
Sudugi broke free of his own restraints as Maru and Yuka ran up beside him. He went to tell the kidnapper to give it up.
Then Yuka called out to her brother and demanded that he fight her.
Without even letting him answer, she dived into a frontal assault, throwing a flurry of punches. Sudugi parried every one of them, then knocked her flat with a single right of his own, leaving her sitting on the floor.
Yuka began to cry. She could not get over how strong her brother was.
Getting herself back up off the floor and back on track, Yuka screamed at the kidnapper to give it up. Slapping her hands together, her fingers grew in size as she lunged forward with Savage Jaw Strike. Throwing his hands up, the kidnapper barely blocked the attack, and still had his wrist sliced open in the process. Bending down and touching one of his own talismans on the floor, he transported himself directly behind Yuka.
The kidnapper then struck down at her with a weapon he had picked up in that same instant. Yuka managed to block the attack, and noted from it that the room was filled with the same barrier technique he used for the kidnappings.
Getting angry himself, Sudugi demanded that his katana be given back to him.
All of a sudden, the kidnapper was caught off guard by a sound cutting through the room.
The cursed tool Hanayagi, wielded by Sudugi, used the sparks generated from its scabbard and infused them into the blade. Moving into his stance, Sudugi activated New Shadow Style: Battle Sword Drawing Technique, sending out an extremely fast set of slashes that tore through every talisman in the room.
From the kidnapper's left, Yuka once again activated Savage Jaw Strike before closing in and hitting him with Biting Fist, a rotation-based move that launched the kidnapper across the room.
With everything seemingly coming to a heavy conclusion, Maru let them know that the children were all perfectly fine. Still, Sudugi thought it was best that they did not touch them before an adult sorcerer arrived. There was no way of knowing what kind of spell or curse might have been laid over the children.
