Yoshida slid the photograph across the table.
Sei, Katana Man, Haruka and Nobara were all prisoners of Public Safety, he said. Then he added that Denji probably did not care about any of them.
Baffled, Denji went back over it out loud. While Pochita had been in control, everyone except the people sitting in this room had been rounded up by Public Safety. Pochita had lost his battle against Asa, and Asa herself had destroyed most of Tokyo with the Statue of Liberty.
That, and the arms she had regenerated, left Denji with the creeping feeling that something about her was not quite right.
She burst out laughing. It was, she decided, a fitting time to stop pretending. She looked straight at Denji and finally divulged what she was: the War Devil, and Asa's second personality. The only reason the four of them could sit here calmly drinking tea was that Asa's mind would break if she kept on taking lives. For now she was simply allowing these muppets to live out of the palm of her hand.
Denji, stuck on the thought of her palm, asked her whether it had been her or Asa who had taken part in a certain private session of his. Amused, Yoru told him she would tell him, as long as he ate his own hand. Denji accepted eagerly and dropped to the floor.
Yoshida remarked on how decisive Yoru's victory over Pochita had been, and wondered aloud why she had not turned him into a weapon yet. Yoru told him to just take a look at him. She had basically already made Denji her pet, and she was going to play with him a little first.
Agreeing that it did sound like fun, Yoshida reminded her that he needed Chainsaw Man turned into a weapon as soon as possible. After all, her elder sister, the Death Devil, would soon descend, and currently no country had any chance of defeating her. Even Chainsaw Man and War together might be unable to withstand such a force. That was, unless Yoru turned Denji into a mindless weapon, one that could overcome death.
Denji asked himself whether that was why Nayuta had been killed — so that he could be turned into a weapon.
Yoshida only smirked in response. He had not forgotten their conversation in the Aging Devil's realm, and because of it he offered Denji a deal. If Denji allowed himself to be transformed into a weapon, he could shoot both him and Fumiko, and get at least some of the revenge he wanted.
Denji immediately tried to shoot Yoshida. The gun turned out to be unloaded, so it only clicked, over and over.
Yoshida said he had thought Denji had really forgiven them. Yoru interjected. Humans were all about manipulation, she said. They lied and they schemed, whilst devils operated on instinct. Noticing the waitress arriving with their cake, she grabbed the plate and tossed the whole thing into Yoshida's face. The waitress yelled at her not to waste food. Yoru answered that she could do whatever she liked, because she was a devil.
Before Yoshida could say anything, Yoru pointed a finger at him and said, "Bang."
Luckily for him, she had not actually blown his head off. It was revealed she had aimed at the wall beside him instead, and the wall came apart. Grinning, she grabbed Denji by his rip cord and tore him out of the café through the hole she had just made. Obviously, because she had yanked down on his cord, Denji ended up transforming into his Chainsaw Man form.
Out on the street, two random civilians had heard the commotion behind them and turned to look. They spotted Denji and assumed he was another Chainsaw Man wannabe. The dark-haired one tried to ambush him, but Yoru blasted a hole through the man before he could get close enough.
Denji yelled at her for killing a civilian. She called him a hypocrite, since his last plan had involved murdering someone.
As another human tried to call out to the two of them, Denji distracted Yoru away from blowing that one apart as well by saying he could take her out somewhere to eat. Somewhat interested by the idea, Yoru jumped into his hands and started laughing hysterically as she was carried away from the growing mob behind them.
They arrived at the Manman Chinese restaurant, and Denji noted that the place was a complete dump. Opening a freezer, though, Yoru found frozen pot stickers and offered to make them herself.
The manager came flying in to interrupt them, holding a cleaver and threatening to call the police. Denji actually recognised him. He worked here. That was the manager, and he could cook them up some pot stickers.
Sadly, Yoru hit the man with a bang and sliced him in two, much to Denji's horror. Not liking Denji's interference, she reminded him that she had said she would be the one cooking for him.
Later that night, the two of them feasted on a restaurant-quality meal cooked by Yoru, enjoying the view of the fires raging throughout the city while they ate.
Denji asked Yoru whether he would ever meet the devil that had caused them so much infamy. She answered that he probably would, during the Death Devil's arrival. When one of the primal devils made an appearance, she explained, all of the high-ranking devils went to greet her.
He asked whether the Control Devil would be there too. Yoru speculated that she might. However, if she was, it would not be the same one he had known.
Already understanding this aspect of devil reincarnation, Denji let her know that he also had a promise with a close friend. He was looking for the Blood Devil, even though she had been a complete jerk. He admitted that they had still had a ton of fun together. He lamented that she probably was not going to be the same person he had once known, and that Yoru and Asa were probably the only friends he had left.
She reminded him that all she wanted was to turn him into a weapon. He said he did not think it mattered, because for the first time in ages, he felt like he was having fun right now.
Taken aback by this, Yoru got up, crossed the room and sat down between a flustered Denji's legs.
After the two of them ended up hooking up for a while, Yoru asked if he was really dead set on this. When he nodded, she gave him her new terms. Defeat the Death Devil, and he would get what he wanted. It was almost identical to what Makima had told him back in the beginning. If he failed, though, she would turn him into a weapon and defeat Death herself.
Later that night, Denji woke up. He could not get back to sleep, so he decided to get up.
He looked at the girl sleeping there, the only person who liked him. He reached out to touch her, then pulled his hand back and tucked her into bed instead.
Walking past the television, he caught a report saying that nine hundred people had died in the fires of the previous night, while three thousand eight hundred were still missing.
Knowing full well how dangerous Yoru was, he told Pochita to watch out, since she would probably screw him over later down the line.
Firing up the stove and pouring in some oil, Denji started frying up a few pot stickers. Yoru eventually woke up as well, and when she walked back into the restaurant she found Denji sitting and eating near the body of the cook.
