Chapter 11One Swing of the Frying Pan

Furious, Namu confronted Seo to get the truth. "So he really is superstar Dohyun. I asked you so many times and you still lied to me, treating me like a total idiot."

When Seo tried to explain, Namu brushed her off. "I don't want to hear anything else. You're nothing but a liar."

Just as he was about to leave, there was a loud bong. Seo had used a frying pan to whack Namu right in the head, knocking him out cold on the spot.

So now Dohyun had a companion in captivity, none other than Namu himself. Dohyun looked at him and mocked him. "I told you she was a master scammer, but you didn't listen. She told you I'd had plastic surgery to look like Dohyun, and you actually believed her. What a dummy."

Seo stood nearby and explained to Namu. "Originally, I planned to hit my manager, because he got me fired. But who knew I'd hit Dohyun by mistake? Because I was afraid of going to jail, I had to bring him here. And then the lies just kept piling up, one after another."

In the middle of the story, Seo got an urgent call from her company. Before leaving, she didn't forget to tell the two big shots to behave at home and wait for her to return.

At the management company, the situation was just as tense. A reporter was pressuring Dohyun's CEO to reveal where he was hiding. While the CEO was still struggling for an answer, the socialite Sarah, who was always stalking Dohyun, suddenly jumped in and made a blunt announcement.

"Dohyun is resting at my house. And by the way, we've been dating for three years."

The reporter was thrilled, as if they'd struck gold, and rushed off to post the exclusive.

At home, Dohyun and Namu were watching TV when they saw the news flash. Shocking: superstar Dohyun and Sarah have been living together for three years.

Dohyun was so shocked he was speechless. He already couldn't stand Sarah. He had even refused to do a commercial with her before. Now, being kidnapped and stuck with this scandal that came out of nowhere, he was going crazy and wanted to get out of there immediately to clear everything up.

He said that if he didn't set the record straight right now, things would get way out of hand and all kinds of made-up stories would pop up. So Dohyun turned to beg Namu. "Please help me get out of here."

Namu heard that and complained. "I'm tied up tight too. How am I supposed to help you now?"

Dohyun came up with a plan. "Right. I'll try my best to untie you. Then you have to run like crazy to the police station and tell them to come and rescue me. Okay?"

Namu thought it sounded reasonable, so he agreed instantly.

While the two big guys were plotting their escape, on Seo's side she had just finished discussing the contract with Miran at the company. However, Miran wasn't someone to mess with either. Instead of letting her go home on her own, he insisted on driving her right to her door. His main goal was to spy, and to see where Seo actually lived, and whether she was hiding any secrets.

Miran didn't just drop her off and leave. He stayed behind to check out her building. His head was full of suspicion about her. Even though he didn't rush into the house right away, he managed to look around and get a good feel for her territory.

Once Miran was out of sight, Seo finally dared to go back to her room. But as soon as she opened the door, she almost fainted at the sight. Namu had escaped his ropes and vanished, who knows when.

Dohyun laughed triumphantly. "Your little play is over. I helped Namu escape successfully."

Seo panicked. "Did he go to report me to the police?"

Dohyun added more, to scare her to death. "Of course. Get ready. In a bit, the police will bring a whole squad here to handcuff you. You'll be famous worldwide for kidnapping superstar Dohyun, and you'll have plenty of time to count ants in a prison cell."

Hearing that threat, Seo's limbs went weak and her heart was a mess. Just when she was feeling most hopeless, she suddenly heard a loud, frantic knocking.

Knock, knock, knock.

Seo stood frozen in place, her face pale as a ghost, because she thought the police had actually arrived. On the other hand, Dohyun was overjoyed, wanting to jump up, because he was sure he was about to be rescued.

The loud knocking left Seo with no choice but to open the door. She braced herself for the handcuffs, while Dohyun excitedly waited for the police to come and rescue him.

However, the person standing at the door was Namu.

Seo and Dohyun were both stunned. Dohyun yelled, asking where the police were, and Namu said something that made him flip.

"I didn't call the police. I've thought it over. I've been helping her hide you for the past few days. So if I call the police now, I'll be an accomplice and have to go to jail with her. So I'd rather just stay on her side."

Dohyun was beyond furious and chewed him out. "You idiot. I untied you so you could save me, not so you could join the kidnapper's side. How could you betray me to follow her?"

Meanwhile, Seo went from being terrified to being overjoyed, because she suddenly had a ride-or-die partner.

After that, Seo and Namu discussed an escape plan, because they couldn't hide Dohyun forever. Seo complained about having no money to go far away. So Namu beat his chest and said, "Let me go and ask my dad for money. He's a very rich businessman."

Hearing that, Seo was full of hope and rushed him to go right away. As a result, a little later, Namu trudged back holding his swollen cheek. It looked like there was no money in sight. Only a slap from his father.

One day, when Seo came home from work, the house was quiet. She looked everywhere, but couldn't find Dohyun.

Namu said calmly, "I let him go back."

Seo almost collapsed. "Are you crazy? You let him go so he could report us and get us arrested?"

Namu reassured her. "No. He promised not to report us. Keeping him any longer would be the real trouble."

Even though Dohyun was gone, Seo suddenly felt unusually empty inside. She missed the times they argued, and missed his presence in the room. She secretly cried alone, because she felt so lost.

As for Dohyun, he returned to his wealthy life. This was what he had dreamed of for so long, but strangely, he missed Seo too. Looking at the socks on his feet, he remembered being so cold that he was shivering, and how she had thoughtfully put those socks on for him. Those little gestures of care from his kidnapper kept spinning around in the superstar's head.
