Chapter 4Five Hundred Rabbit Horns

Soon after, Lin Fang arrived at the Extraordinary Academy's registration plaza. He stood before the registration desk, where a stone-faced examiner ordered, "Name. Awakened class. Level."

Lin Fang calmly replied, "Lin Fang, eighteen years old, Spirit Farm Lord, level one."

The examiner raised an eyebrow, sceptical. "Spirit Farm Lord? Never heard of it. Another one trying to sneak in with a non-combat class. Release your class fluctuation."

Lin Fang raised his hand and a gentle green energy enveloped it.

The examiner glanced at it with pure disdain. "Hah. Just the useless energy of a farmer class. Next. Don't waste my time."

The crowd behind him erupted in laughter.

"Spirit Farm Lord? Did he just make that up? That's hilarious."

"A level one piece of trash farmer actually dares to register. Get back to your fields."

The examiner, Li Yingming, scoffed, saying he wouldn't even hire this waste of space. "Don't you dare lower the school's standards."

But Lin Fang stayed completely calm, telling him, "Sir, my class is a variant. I just hope you'll give me a chance. My foundation is solid."

Hearing that, the examiner slammed the desk and roared, "Solid foundation? What foundation does a level one reject have? Guards, throw him out."

Lin Fang didn't even flinch. He held the application form right up to the examiner's face and with a slight smile said, "The rules state all classes can take the exam. Be careful, or I'll report you."

Then he pulled out his phone, pretending to make a call. "Hello, is this the supervision bureau? A teacher here is stopping me from taking the academy's exam."

That did it. The examiner completely lost his cool and snatched the phone. He got right in Lin Fang's face, hissing, "You dare report me? I'll make sure you never get back up. I refuse to believe a level one farmer can pass this test anyway."

The people around them started whispering.

"Isn't that teacher Li being a little too harsh? Even if he is just a farmer, they could just send him away. There's no need to make a scene like this."

"Word is he failed his promotion and got stuck in admissions."

Humiliated by the crowd, Li Yingming roared, "If you don't want a test, then all of you can get out."

With that, he furiously led Lin Fang and the other applicants into the examination area. Standing before a massive gate made of giant tree roots, Li Yingming turned back to mock Lin Fang one last time. "Kid, it's not too late to bow your head and admit you're beaten."

But Lin Fang just ignored him, completely unfazed. "Thanks for showing me the way."

And with that he walked straight into the portal, leaving the examiner fuming with a cigarette.

Inside the forest of roots, Lin Fang moved with incredible speed, dodging every single obstacle like it was nothing. He landed lightly on his feet, pure confidence in his eyes, and a small smirk formed on his face. Time for these horn demon rabbits to learn the true terror of industrialised farming.

Lin Fang pulled out a jar of orange powder from his pack. "This carrot essence is my newest masterpiece. It can even lure a level twenty giant rabbit. So these low-level fodder? Piece of cake."

He sprinkled a little on the ground, setting the bait and getting ready. Instantly an adorable pink horn demon rabbit, drawn in by the scent, hopped right toward the freshly sprouted carrots. But just as it was about to take a bite, two shadowy figures burst from the trees, attacking in a flash.

From behind a tree, Lin Fang issued a command to his two servants, Yu Ya and He Sha. "The old way of waiting is just too slow. Listen up, you two. As long as nobody else is watching, these rabbits are going to keep coming. Kill every last one." He finished his command with a chillingly effective smile.

"Orders received."

The two phantoms moved like whirlwinds, one glowing green, the other purple. He Sha struck decisively, finishing a rabbit in a single blink. Meanwhile Yu Ya unleashed his magic, trapping entire groups of rabbits inside water orbs with total ease.

Lin Fang watched from a distance, impressed. Even as level one spirits, these two are insanely powerful. I really hit the jackpot.

Suddenly a bell rang through the forest, signalling that the test was officially over. Time's up.

Li Yingming stood before a large curtain, ordering all contestants to turn in the rabbit horns they'd collected. And at the collection table he failed them one after another.

"Two? Fail. Three? Fail. Not a single one? Useless. Get out."

The other contestants complained.

"There are usually tons of rabbits here. Why was it so hard to find any this time?"

"You got four? That's amazing. Some people didn't even get one."

"They'll just have to wait for the next open enrolment."

Then it was Lin Fang's turn. Li Yingming crossed his arms, smirking. "Well, reject. Let's see your results. I bet you don't have a single horn."

Lin Fang just smiled back, raised his hand, and a magic circle glowed from the space ring on his finger. A second later a massive mountain of pink rabbit horns came crashing down, completely burying the examiner and his assistant. All you could hear were their panicked screams.

Lin Fang wore a brilliant smile. "That's five hundred demon horns in total. Do you need a recount?"

Li Yingming struggled to pull himself out of the pile, pointing a shaky finger at Lin Fang. "Five — five hundred? You. You cheated."

But just then an elegant older man wearing a monocle appeared. "All right, that's enough. A man your age picking on a child. Who taught you such terrible habits?"

The examiner went pale. "Director. What are you doing here?"

The man shot him a sarcastic look. "If I hadn't come, my precious pet rabbits would have been wiped out by some people with no morals."

He then turned to Lin Fang and calmly announced, "You have passed the preliminary exam."

Lin Fang simply bowed his head politely. "Thank you for your fairness, Director."
