A single drop of purple magic fell, and an information panel appeared right before his eyes. The status window that popped up left Lin Fang completely stunned.
Lin Fang. Class: Spirit Farm Lord, unique mutant. Level 1. Strength 300. Constitution 300. Agility 100. Mana 10. Spirit 100. Luck 300. Skills: Quick Tilling, Efficient Planting, Fast Harvest, Increased Yield, Max Tool Proficiency, Spirit Affinity (passive), Beginner's Limit Break Growth, Beginner Spirit Summoning, Soul Siphon (passive).
He was still reeling, staring at all the strange, changed, new information on his status screen. Lin Fang took a closer look at the new skills — Spirit Affinity, Spirit Summoning, Soul Siphon. They were all listed right there next to his familiar farming skills.
He realised something incredible. His level had reset to one, but he had kept all the stats from his max-level farmer class.
Lin Fang rubbed his chin, muttering to himself. "And my mana even increased, thanks to that bastard's soul power." This meant that when he levelled up again, his stats could shatter the old limits of the farmer class.
Then he noticed a particular skill: Spirit Summoning. He could summon spirits now. Wait. Could he possibly summon him?
Lin Fang tested his new power. A green energy characteristic of a farmer appeared in one hand. Moments later, a purple necromancer's mana manifested in the other. The two streams of energy began to intertwine. His farmer's mana and the necromancer's spirit power were actually fusing together.
Lin Fang stared at his class tree in utter astonishment. His class tree had branched. He didn't just change classes — he had gained a second one. Did that necromancer invading his body somehow awaken this legendary inherited class?
He cautiously approached the spot where He Sha's and Yu Ya's bodies had vanished, leaving only a faint, shimmering silhouette behind. He's still not dead.
On the skill tree, two class branches were fusing into one. Lin Fang gripped the orb of volatile energy, his eyes burning with determination. He could feel it. This power wasn't his yet. If he couldn't tame it, and fast, making it completely his own, then not only would his farmer class collapse, but his own consciousness would be devoured all over again.
He stood tall, a purple magic circle flaring to life behind him as he roared, "Summon undead!"
Instantly the lingering souls on the ground dissolved into dust and vanished. Two phantoms materialised behind Lin Fang: Yu Ya, the undead sage, and He Sha, the undead berserker, both at level one.
Lin Fang's face turned serious. It really was them. And even though their levels were reset, all their abilities were still intact. They could even level up again.
But the enforcers were coming. He had to move. He quickly turned and fled the scene. He knew no one would believe an ordinary farmer could kill two extraordinaries. But if his current state was exposed, he'd be inviting a death sentence. The priority now was finding a place that offered protection. A place with resources and high-grade land, where he could test this dangerous new power and bring his father's theories to life.
One day later, at Lin Fang's farm, he stood in the middle of his field, his expression thoughtful. A full day had passed and the necromancer's influence on his class just wouldn't end.
Inside his house, the television played a financial report. "Welcome to the financial channel. Today is the birthday of a veteran agronomist—"
Lin Fang held a young sapling, a dark magical energy coiling around it. He had realised that any plant catalysed by his new power became weird. Under the magic's influence, the sapling's leaves began to warp unnaturally. It swelled rapidly, transforming into a huge, twisted flower bud. A sparrow flew past and was instantly snatched by dark tentacles sprouting from the monstrous plant, which squeezed it tight.
Lin Fang froze, his face a mask of horror. "What is this thing? If anyone saw this, they'd think it was a demonic invasion."
He grabbed a shovel, saying frantically, "I have to get rid of this thing now."
But as he glanced at his seed pouch, an idea struck him. This new magic could cause such terrifying mutations in normal plants. What if he could control this power, actively guide it, to cultivate his crops?
His eyes sharpened. Filled with hope, he realised he might just be able to create the unique species his father dreamed of but never succeeded in growing. High-value plants capable of strengthening a person's class.
Back inside, the television suddenly switched to a breaking news report. "We interrupt this program with an urgent bulletin. A warrant has been issued for the necromancer successor, He Sha, who launched a rebellion yesterday, murdering Dean Yu Ya in cold blood. Anyone providing clues will be heavily rewarded, and any who harbour the fugitive will be charged as an accomplice."
Lin Fang's brow furrowed, his expression turning grim. So that's what happened yesterday. He knew then and there that his necromancer powers could never be revealed to anyone.
He looked around the shed, which was filled with farming tools, and started scheming. He needed a cover story for his undead servants so they could pass unnoticed, otherwise things would get messy.
An idea sparked. Lin Fang snapped his fingers. "I'll just call them farm servants." His class was Spirit Farm Lord, after all. And as a farm lord, having a few servants was perfectly normal.
Just then the news continued. "To counter the demonic pressure, the Extraordinary Academy is expanding enrolment. All who pass the exam will receive preferential access to academy resources, a private manor with high-grade soil, and a special subsidy. Enrolled students can also hire farmers to grow high-recovery plants for them."
Hearing this, Lin Fang's eyes lit up. The academy's land was safe, fertile, and came with resources. This was exactly what he needed. He had to get in.
Being a necromancer was a ticking time bomb. But to everyone else, a spirit farm lord was just a farmer.
