Chapter 6Dragon Bone and Runes

Sometime later, they were at a forge near the battlefield. Yuta adjusted the furnace temperature while thinking about everything that had happened, and realized it had been a while since she last worked in a forge. Even so, she got excited, enjoying the sound of the hammer and the creation process.

The blacksmith who owned the place watched suspiciously, saying he had only allowed her to use the furnace because Banzon Packard had asked, but that she looked like a novice who did not even know what she was doing. When he noticed the absurd temperature of the furnace, he panicked, thinking everything was going to explode. As he tried to interfere, he realized there was no coal, only a monster horn being used as fuel, something completely out of the ordinary.

Yuta apologized for the mess, but told him to just watch, as if it were a show. She began working with even greater intensity, increasing both the heat and the force of her strikes, explaining that what she was creating was practically a machine with an extremely complex mana formula that required an absurd level of endurance. That was why the extreme heat was necessary.

While working, she asked whether Banzon Packard was right or left-handed, and learned that he was right-handed and used to wield a Spartan style gladius. With that in mind, she defined the materials and the weapon's form, using dragon bone for the blade and embedding the mana formula into the hilt. The blacksmith watched in awe, unable to understand who that girl was, since he had never seen anyone use materials and methods like that. When Yuta started inscribing runes onto the blade with a special pen, he recalled stories about a heroine connected to a technique that imitated a goddess's forging, something he believed had disappeared long ago.

Meanwhile, Banzon Packard grew thoughtful, wishing he could return to protecting his comrades. He saw it as his duty and honor, and even without knowing whether this was fate or coincidence, he decided to trust Yuta. He just wanted to be able to lift a shield again and protect those who mattered to him.

After a great deal of effort, Yuta finally finished the gladius. She explained that the weapon had not been made in her original forge and would not last long enough to receive a true name, but that even so, it would fulfill her master's wish. She called the weapon conversion, and made it clear that it was only an alternative solution, asking whether, even so, he could still consider himself a warrior with pride.

Banzon Packard replied that strictly following the concept of a warrior is something only fools do, and that as long as he could protect his comrades, the method did not matter. For him, that was enough. Yuta agreed and said he was worthy of wielding that weapon, asking if he was ready to return to the battlefield.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Banzon Packard's comrades struggled to resist the creatures as best they could, but the situation changed completely when the undead commander appeared and launched a magical meteor toward one of the group's mages. With no way to dodge, she realized she would not be able to escape, and in that moment could only think that everything would be different if Banzon Packard were there.

At the last moment, Banzon Packard appeared on the battlefield, raising his massive shield and blocking the magical comet heading toward the group. Even arriving a bit late, he made it clear that he was still fulfilling his duty, reintroducing himself as the frontline captain and asking the guild leader for new orders. The group's mage was surprised to see that he had returned, and he simply apologized for the delay, saying he had run into some issues along the way.

Meanwhile, Yuta commented that introductions could wait, because there were bigger problems, and he agreed, heading straight back to the front line.

Now in combat, Banzon Packard defended with his shield while using the magical gladius, striking the ground and releasing bursts of power. Yuta observed and understood how the weapon worked, realizing that although the sword itself was not particularly efficient, its true potential came from the absurd amount of mana he now possessed, allowing him to generate pure brute force with each attack.

The other warriors were encouraged by the captain's return and began reorganizing the front line, but the situation worsened when more demons appeared, firing flaming arrows. He managed to block the attacks, keeping everyone protected. During the fight, Yuta tried to gather information and asked if anyone had seen someone using a strange staff, but the demons did not cooperate. Ash charged at the enemies with her sword, leaving the archers to Yuta, who used Elson's eye to fire multiple beams at them. Even so, one of the demons withstood the attack and mocked it.

In the middle of the battle, Banzon Packard stepped in front of Ash to block a strike, creating an opening for her to continue fighting. In a moment of distraction, Ash feigned an opening, and the real attack came from Yuta, who appeared and crushed the demon's head with a hammer strike, taunting him as she did.

Soon after, a new presence appeared on the battlefield, showing interest in the fight. The figure used her own blood in her weapon, and Yuta immediately recognized the mana signature, realizing it was the staff she had been searching for. The demonic commander then launched a blast of status reversal toward them. Ash tried to block it but could not react in time, and the explosion hit both of them.

Banzon Packard panicked, but the commander explained that the attack did not kill, that it only reversed attributes, just as it had done to him before. She then questioned how he was still able to fight and raise a shield even after being affected by that power. He replied that even without strength he would continue fighting to protect others, and took the opportunity to question why a mage was fighting on the front lines.
