Chapter 15Journalists in the Corridor

Tan Renru told Su Fu that her acting was better than it had been before, that her control of her emotions was very good, and that she had been able to kill Su Li outright.

Su Fu told her that it was strange that the two of them got along so well and yet she still addressed her so formally; it sounded unfamiliar.

Tan looked surprised and asked whether she could call her Sister Fu, then; and she went off very happy, saying that this was wonderful, because she had finally managed to talk to a star.

Then somebody grabbed Su Fu by the arm and told Miss Su that they had something to ask her, and they were going to talk about it now.

It was the girl who had woken up in Shen's bed. She said that now that Shen wasn't here, she had to settle this matter with her, and that she did not believe that an old-fashioned actress with a mountain of scandal and a little illegitimate daughter could seduce her Shen.

Su Fu asked her to please let go of her.

The little beauty grabbed hold of the girl and told the bad woman to let go of her mommy, but the bad woman shoved the little genius away; and with a look of disgust she said that the little bastard was very confident, still wanting to take her on, and that it was ridiculous.

Then Su Fu caught the girl's arm with her other hand, and with one movement put her on the floor with her feet in the air, and told her that if she ever dared to hurt her girl again, she would pay her back a hundred times over.

The girl lay where she had been thrown, scratching at the floor, saying that Su Fu was a damned woman who had shamelessly tried to rob her of her man, and asking her whether she still dared to threaten her.

Su Fu looked at her with contempt.

The girl looked thoroughly irritated and demanded to know what Su Fu's relationship with Shen was.

Su Fu came a little closer and put a hand under her chin and asked her whether, even if they were close, she really thought her relationship had to be reported to her.

But the girl asked her why she had the guts to climb into her bed and not the guts to admit it.

Su Fu gave her a thin smile, and kept hold of her arm, and the girl told Su Fu that she was a — and asked her to let go, and told her that if she had the ability to steal other people's men, then why couldn't she admit that too?

Then Su Fu came closer still and asked her, threateningly, how she could possibly steal something that belonged to her in the first place — or did she perhaps need to steal it? And then she let her go.

The girl tried to make a scene. She called for everyone to come and look, because here was the unrestrained, shameless mistress who cheated on her marriage and beat other people up.

All the journalists were amazed, because there was a smell of gossip in the air, and they came pressing closer, shouting that this was great news and telling each other to take photographs quickly.

But Su Fu asked her, in front of a six-year-old child, which of the two of them was the lady here and which was the shameless one — and whether that wasn't clear enough already.

The girl was left speechless, and all the journalists drifted away a little sadly, one saying that he had been wondering what interesting news they might get out of this, and another saying that there had been none at all.

Then somebody arrived and slapped the girl again and shouted at her that she was useless. It was Su Li, who told her that she couldn't even deal with an actress buried in scandal.

But the girl said that Su Li couldn't deal with her either, and only used her to do it; and that if it weren't for the fact that the Su family was so powerful and could get her better resources, she would never have put up with her for so long. But Su Fu had stolen her Shen, and she would certainly have her revenge.

On a phone screen somewhere, a social network was open at the popular topics, and every single segment was taken up with Su Fu and Shen, along with a great many comments about her adventures and about the protagonist's children.

Manman asked Su Fu whether this wouldn't affect Shen's reputation.

Su Fu said that on the set he had already created a scandal himself, and she had only added fuel to the flames. She wanted to see what he would do, because that way they would be able to get rid of Su Li's people at the same time. And she said that Shen would not help her at all if he was afraid of ruining his reputation after this.

Manman looked worried and told Sister Fu that she was doing a great deal of damage to the enemy, but even more to herself.

Little Genius said that she couldn't understand all of it, but her mom had told her that if she didn't understand something she had to ask.

Manman said that that explanation was correct, and said that in any case, although there was scandalous news going round with Shen in it, it wasn't harmful to them.

Just then a notification came through to Manman's phone. It was from Shen.

Manman said that it was over, that trouble had come right up to the door, and that Shen must have become infatuated with Sister Fu and apparently wanted to pursue her. She made a rather strange expression and said that she would give him back the breakfast money right this minute.

Then she looked angry and thought that that trash of a man was really trying to go after Sister Fu. She had some memories of how kind he had been. In the morning she had thought he was nice, and now it seemed that all of it was part of his normal routine; and now she had reason to suspect that Shen was creating something out of nothing and had been secretly hiding his position all along. No, she thought — she had to block that bastard for her sister.

Su Fu looked in the rearview mirror and saw how serious Manman had gone, and asked her whether something was happening.

That frightened Manman, and she said that it was nothing, she had only been reading a post, and there was so much garbage on there these days — and she pretended to laugh. Then she went serious again and said that she was sorry, but she didn't have time.

And she blocked the handsome enough boy.

That scene on the set was definitely not a coincidence, Su Fu thought, because the woman who had pushed Su Li was an agent of Yuanchen Entertainment. They had secretly helped her; and although she was an old-fashioned actress with a great many scandals, they had even helped her easily create a fresh scandal with Shen — which also seemed a little deliberate. And whatever the reason, the scandal between Shen and her could at least let the family know that she was not without support. Thinking that, Su Fu looked quite relieved.

Manman got out of the car, and Miss Tan Renru said goodbye to Su Fu and thanked her sister and asked her to take care of herself on the way.

Then Su Fu started the car, and the little girl asked her mom whether they didn't have to go to the supermarket.

Su Fu asked the little genius why she wanted to go to the supermarket — if anything, it would be to buy snacks.

But she said no, and asked her mom whether she wasn't going to buy a washboard.

Su Fu turned round and said that this girl knew far too much.
