The PTA Laughed at the Lunch Lady's Pie — The $50,000 Bidder Was the Boy She Fed for Free Forty Years Ago

Synopsis

June Mahaffey has run the Pine Street school kitchen for forty years. At the PTA charity auction, the president opens her sugar cream pie at one dollar, and two hundred people laugh. Then an anonymous bidder pays $50,000 for it. He is carrying one of the blue PAID tickets June cut by hand and slipped to hungry kids, paid from her own wages. Now a catering vendor wants her kitchen, and the PTA calls her a fraud. Tom can stand beside her. Proving what she did is June's job, and the kids she fed are grown up and in the room.
