Chapter 8Conference Room Three

The following morning, Daiki woke suddenly from a strange dream involving an unfamiliar woman. Looking around, he noticed that Thomas and Minjun were still sleeping peacefully beside him.

Trying not to wake either of them, he got carefully out of bed. As he did, he was surprised to hear Minjun softly murmur his name in his sleep.

A few moments later he tried to wake him, but Minjun merely rolled over, clearly wanting to keep sleeping. Running out of patience, Daiki took hold of his arm and ordered him firmly to get up.

When Minjun finally opened his eyes and saw Daiki standing in front of him, he looked completely confused. It did not take him long to work out why Daiki looked so irritated. His trousers had become uncomfortably tight, and he was utterly humiliated.

Panicking, he tried to hide himself, but Daiki went on questioning him in a firm voice, asking why he was still lying there beside Thomas and insisting that he deal with the situation immediately.

Mortified, Minjun could only think about how humiliating the whole thing was, and wonder why on earth it had to happen in front of Daiki.

Sighing, Daiki picked up his phone and called one of his subordinates. While he gave instructions for someone to come and take Thomas, he held Minjun firmly by the arms. After ending the call, he led him toward the bathroom.

Once they were inside, he dealt with the awkward situation directly, and without hesitation.

Although Minjun was overwhelmed with embarrassment, he was unable to hide his reaction. Daiki told him coldly to get himself under control, warning that Thomas might hear them because he was making far too much noise.

Meanwhile, Maya came into Daiki's room looking for Thomas. Seeing neither Daiki nor Minjun there, he tried to wake the sleeping child, and then was distracted by the sounds coming from the bathroom.

Recognising Minjun's voice, Maya hesitated a moment, remembering what had happened the last time. Instead of knocking on the bathroom door, he quickly picked Thomas up and carried him away before the little boy could wake and walk in on the situation.

Inside, Daiki continued helping Minjun, covering his mouth with one hand and trying to muffle the sounds he was making.

Once it was over, Daiki instructed him coldly to clean himself up and leave the bathroom before Thomas found him in that state.

Elsewhere, in an abandoned building, one of Daiki's men had cornered an unfamiliar young man. During the interrogation he complained that it had taken him a long time to get in touch with the boss, and grumbled about how difficult it had been to track down Tae, who kept hiding from house to house.

He also asked why Tae seemed to have quite so many lovers.

Another gang member, gripping an iron pipe, went on questioning Tae about his accomplices, and demanded to know why he had become involved with those people.

Terrified, Tae tried to defend himself. Before he could finish speaking, he was struck hard with the iron pipe, and given no chance to react.

Later, Daiki and the Uyama yakuza members were holding a business meeting. One of the executives suggested that because of the growing population around Shiba Station, it might be profitable for them to acquire a shopping mall nearby.

Everyone fell silent when Daiki's phone began vibrating. He ignored the call and instructed the meeting to continue.

The discussion resumed, with another member explaining that the location had once belonged to the Suzuki gang. Someone else suggested reviewing everything carefully before taking over the property.

Before anyone could continue, Daiki's phone rang again. This time he glanced at the screen and saw that it was a video call from Kenta. Assuming it concerned Thomas, he interrupted the meeting and answered.

To his surprise, Thomas appeared on the screen with freshly permed hair and an enormous smile.

The excited little boy showed off his new hairstyle proudly and asked his father whether it looked nice. Everyone in the meeting watched in silence as Daiki tried awkwardly to explain that he was in the middle of something important.

Thomas ignored that completely. Instead he announced happily that he now looked just like his mama, and called Minjun over to say hello.

A moment later Minjun appeared on the screen with a cheerful smile. He asked Daiki, joking, whether they looked alike now that they had matching hairstyles.

Looking slightly annoyed, Daiki interrupted him again and reminded him that this was still an important meeting.

Watching all of this unfold, Maya could not hide his discomfort. The sounds he had overheard earlier that day resurfaced in his mind, and made him wonder whether Minjun and Daiki's relationship had become something more than a contractual arrangement.

Minjun reminded Thomas that his father was busy working, and suggested they say goodbye before ending the call. Thomas kissed the phone screen happily and waved.

After the call ended, Daiki could not help showing a faint smile.

That small expression only made Maya more jealous of Minjun than before.
