Meanwhile, at the office, Yunshu was practicing surgical sutures on fresh meat. When his secretary arrived with reports and documents that needed signatures, he almost had a heart attack. His boss was once again cutting up pork in the office. Even after Yunshu apologized, he casually promised that next time he would at least give advance notice before dissecting meat at work.
Not long afterward, Dr. Lin called. He had devised another test and wanted to know whether Yunshu had time to participate. Of course, Yunshu had time. After all, he had left all the pending paperwork for his poor secretary.
Interestingly, the secretary openly complained to him without the slightest fear. Unlike Baitang, who had once been terrified to even speak to Yunsu. That difference existed because the original Yunsu had carefully crafted the image of a kind, charismatic and patient man in front of everyone else. Very few people ever saw him angry. The only person who experienced the full extent of his rage was Baitang, behind closed doors.
At Haan University's medical school, Dr. Lin had arranged another challenge. A body donor who had been a nurse during life and had donated his remains to medical science would be used for an anatomy examination.
Before the test began, Dr. Lin tried to stop Yunshu. If he didn't know what he was doing, he should quit immediately rather than disrespect the donor's body. He wasn't even allowed to remove any organs. And if he made a mistake, Lin threatened that he would personally remove one of Yunshu's organs instead. Yunshu simply told him to be quiet so he could begin.
Dr. Lin found it impossible to believe what he was seeing. With only a short amount of practice, Yunshu had made nearly perfect incisions and correctly identified almost every detail during the autopsy examination. At that point, the poor doctor no longer believed Yunshu was human. To him, he looked more like some kind of ghost.
Introducing himself once again, the alpha clarified, "My name is Yunshu, not Yunsu."
After calming down, Dr. Lin couldn't help but think how unlucky Yunshu was for ending up in the body of such a terrible person. Surprisingly, Yunshu disagreed. He was actually grateful to have come to this world, because it gave him the chance to heal all the wounds Baitang had suffered.
Now that Dr. Lin knew the truth, Yunshu wanted to ask him for a favor. He hoped the doctor would provide Baitang with official documentation stating that he had permanently lost his memory. Baitang needed reassurance from a medical professional that the diagnosis was real.
Dr. Lin agreed to help. He confirmed that the Imperial Hospital's diagnosis had been correct, and that all of Yunshu's behavioral changes were the result of permanent memory loss. As Baitang's partner, he had undoubtedly already noticed those changes himself. Of course, Dr. Lin was deliberately bending the truth to help Yunshu.
Later, Yunshu apologized to Baitang once again for everything the original Yunsu had done. He promised that he would never hurt him again. From now on, Baitang was free to relax and do whatever he wanted.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Baitang carefully tested him. "Can I continue my studies?"
He could hardly believe his ears when Yunshu immediately agreed. Not only would he be allowed to return to Fanqi Academy, but they would go together the very next day.
Back home, Baitang still found it difficult to accept how much Yunshu had changed. The old Yunsu hated animals and refused to cook for himself. Yet now he was standing in the kitchen, preparing lunch.
After noticing Baitang staring at him, Yunshu asked whether he wanted to say something. Baitang hesitated before asking if he could really return to Fanqi. Once again, Yunshu assured him that he could.
Still, Baitang didn't know when Yunshu might recover his memories. That meant he had to take advantage of every moment while the alpha still had amnesia. He needed to pursue his dreams, protect himself, and protect his beloved puppy, Hongtang.
Changing the subject, Yunshu casually picked him up again. At this point, it had become obvious how much he enjoyed carrying the little omega around.
Since he had carefully planned a healthy diet for him, Yunshu wanted Baitang to start eating meat again. More than three years had passed since the omega had last tasted meat. After almost forgetting what it tasted like, every bite felt delicious. Because he was so thin, Yunshu kept encouraging him to eat more.
Unfortunately, after being deprived of proper nutrition for so long, Baitang's body struggled to accept it. Even though Yunshu prepared light, easily digestible meals, his stomach still reacted poorly.
Later, in his room, Yunshu made rice porridge to protect his stomach. As Baitang watched him, he realized something. Even after vomiting all over Yunshu's shirt, the alpha hadn't become angry. Instead, he had comforted him, taken care of him, and treated him with unbelievable gentleness.
More than anything, Baitang wished those moments could last forever. That night, he slept deeply. Even so, he reminded himself not to trust Yunshu too quickly.
The next morning, he found only Hongtang in the living room while a pot boiled in the kitchen. Then he heard a voice coming from outside the window. To his surprise, Yunshu was practicing English vocabulary, repeating words aloud.
This confused Baitang. If Yunshu had forgotten everything, how could he still remember English? As a result, Baitang began suspecting that Yunshu had bribed Dr. Lin and the entire hospital to lie to him.
But that wasn't the case. Yunshu patiently explained that although he had lost his memories, basic knowledge and common sense remained. Furthermore, if Baitang still didn't believe him, they could visit another hospital and repeat all the examinations together. That way, he could see the truth for himself.
After breakfast, they immediately headed out. Following another round of tests, Baitang finally saw enough evidence to convince him that Yunshu truly had lost his memories.
