After getting a huge scolding from the boss's wife, Yuni walked down the street looking like a total mess. She couldn't help but wonder: as a secretary, is it really necessary to deal with her boss's endless romantic drama?
However, in Yuni's dictionary, a secretary's duty is to handle all kinds of emergencies for the boss. Thinking about this, the optimistic girl found a good excuse for herself, believing that this was purely because her boss trusted her.
But what Yuni didn't expect was that this trust would crumble so fast.
One day, while she was passionately teaching trainees about the basic qualities of a secretary, intimate photos of Yuni and her boss suddenly popped up on their computers. Yuni panicked a little, not knowing what to do. She got called in by HR. Knowing something was wrong, she freaked out and called her boss, hoping for some help.
Sadly, her boss went missing and even blocked Yuni's SOS calls. He just sent a single text letting her know that, to save his own chances of a promotion, he had decided to throw her under the bus.
Yuni felt like she had been struck by lightning. She had clearly bent over backward for her boss's every need, only to get fired in the end. She couldn't help but laugh at herself, sighing that she was just a nobody, looking back at all the years she busted her butt helping her boss fix all sorts of problems.
Yuni packed her things and left with tears of self-pity. As she stepped out of the elevator, her box of stuff spilled all over the floor. This lonely moment of Yuni's was accidentally witnessed by Chiwan. He kindly helped her pick up her things from the floor. When Yuni snapped out of it, she noticed that her missing shoe was now inside her box. Looking up, she realized it was Chiwan, and she couldn't help but feel a little touched inside.
Yuni was put on ice indefinitely, and her days of being suspended were not easy at all. She still had some false hopes about her boss's past words of comfort, telling herself that once he got promoted, he would find a way to get her job back. But she waited and waited, and three months passed. Her rent and bills were due soon, yet HR showed no signs of calling her back to work.
Just when Yuni was feeling down and didn't know what to do, good news dropped from the sky. HR told her to come back to work right away, as the secretary for Director Nam.
Yuni was over the moon. But right before she started, she was pulled into a meeting by Director Du. It turned out her comeback as a secretary had all been secretly set up by Director Du. He really wanted to be the vice president and saw Director Nam as a roadblock, so he needed someone to dig up dirt on Director Nam and kick him out of power. He picked Yuni to be his eyes and ears, to spy on Director Nam's every move.
For the sake of survival, Yuni couldn't turn down the golden ticket Director Du handed her, so she agreed to his terms.
Back on the job, she was incredibly happy. When she ran into Chiwan in the elevator, she remembered how he had given her back her missing shoe when she left the company in disgrace. Out of curiosity, she asked him about it, and found out that Chiwan had seen the whole thing when the boss's wife dragged her out of the hotel. Embarrassed, Yuni instantly shut up.
But then she noticed that she and Chiwan were walking the exact same way. And he even strolled right into Director Nam's office. Just as she was about to stop him, her co-workers came over and told her that Chiwan was Director Nam.
Yuni was totally shocked, and worried that their rocky past would mess up their work relationship. She quickly pulled herself together and tried to talk business with Chiwan.
Too bad Yuni's past work experience kept hitting a brick wall with him. Chiwan not only left his own secretary out of important meetings, he also totally ignored the work notes she had busted her gut to organize. His style made Yuni super frustrated. She felt helpless, like a superhero with no world to save.
Shaking it off, Yuni put on her professional smile, knocked on Chiwan's door again, and asked if he needed her to order dinner. Chiwan dropped his cold attitude and invited her to grab a bite together. Yuni actually thought he felt guilty for being so hard on her all day.
But to her surprise, during dinner, Chiwan laid it out straight. He didn't need a secretary, and he didn't need Yuni waiting on him hand and foot. He specifically warned her not to knock on his door without a good reason anymore. And if she couldn't handle that, she could ask for a transfer.
Hearing Chiwan say this, Yuni froze on the spot. She couldn't understand why she had to try so hard to please him, walking on eggshells even during dinner, only for Chiwan to give her zero credit. Her foresight and dedication, which she had always been so proud of, broke her down, and she burst into tears.
Yuni started to question her own worth, especially when she heard that AI could perfectly replace secretaries. A massive sense of panic hit her.
Thinking about her monthly rent, Yuni hyped herself up, channeled her never-give-up attitude, and declared to Chiwan that she absolutely wouldn't accept a transfer or a new role. Getting completely carried away, she accidentally blurted out that she would stick to him like chewing gum.
Chiwan didn't argue back. Instead, he found the face Yuni was making kind of cute, and couldn't help but smile.
