Yuni didn't believe Chiwan was made of stone. She swore to use her professionalism to be a totally devoted secretary.
Seeing that Director Huang dropped by to see Chiwan all the time, she guessed the two of them must be pretty tight. She pulled Director Huang aside to ask about Chiwan's past. That was when she found out that Chiwan wasn't just acting this way toward her. He had worked for years without a secretary. He was a guy who strictly followed the rules and didn't care much about feelings.
That night, the vice president took Chiwan out for dinner. He had been best friends with Chiwan's uncle and had been looking out for Chiwan as a mentor for years. He noticed Yuni's stubborn, never-say-die attitude, and also saw that Chiwan had a soft spot for her. So he purposely invited Yuni to tag along.
During the dinner, the vice president got really hyped and offered Yuni a little drink, but they ended up knocking back over a dozen bottles. The vice president couldn't hang. He passed out face first on the table.
Yuni wasn't doing much better. But as a secretary, she held on to that last bit of stubbornness fueled by her professionalism. She tried her best to stay somewhat sober, constantly hyping herself up that she absolutely couldn't make a fool of herself in public.
By the time dinner was over, Chiwan could clearly see that Yuni was super wasted. Yet when he heard her say she could get home by herself, he showed zero sympathy and just walked off alone, leaving a drunk Yuni all alone on the street trying to hail a cab.
Right then, it was the evening rush hour. Yuni couldn't fight the alcohol kicking in wave after wave. Before a cab even showed up, she passed out cold on a street bench. Chiwan was driving by and happened to see her shivering in the freezing wind. Feeling a bit guilty, he gave her a ride home.
Totally blacked out, Yuni didn't even realize the guy in front of her was Chiwan, thinking he was the cab driver. She kept whining about how cold Chiwan was and swore she'd make him see how important she was. She said that once he couldn't live without her, she would suddenly dump him, leaving him miserable and full of regrets.
Hearing Yuni babble all this, Chiwan wasn't annoyed at all. In fact, he thought she was pretty funny.
As he dropped her off at her place, a room-for-rent flyer blew right into his face. The cheap rent price caught his eye. It turned out that after divorcing Duhi, he had left most of his assets to her, and now he was looking all over for a place to live.
What a coincidence. Yuni's house was the exact place where he and his uncle used to live. This house held past memories that Chiwan didn't want to bring up. The vice president had always pushed him to face his nightmares. After thinking it over, Chiwan made the call to rent the place.
Yuni's mom was over the moon when she heard that a single guy wanted to rent the place. She was always stressing out about her daughter's love life. But the problem was that Yuni never had time to find a boyfriend, so her mom had resorted to this sneaky plan: collect rent while creating a chance for her daughter to interact with a man. Seeing how handsome Chiwan was, Yuni's mom was totally thrilled. Just like that, they made a deal, and Chiwan became Yuni's tenant.
But Yuni was busy working overtime and had no clue her mom had rented out the place. She pulled an all-nighter, and just when she finally got home to catch some sleep, she heard loud construction noises from upstairs. Annoyed, she marched upstairs to give them a piece of her mind, only to find out that her mom had rented out the second floor.
Yuni decided to meet this new tenant. The moment the door opened, she saw it was Chiwan. She froze on the spot. Only then did Yuni realize that her mom had rented the second floor to someone else, and that someone was her direct boss.
For a moment, Yuni didn't know how to act around him. Worried that she might feel awkward, Chiwan took the lead and said they should keep their work and personal lives strictly separate. At the office, they were boss and subordinate. But at home, they were landlord and tenant.
Yuni, who had made being Chiwan's secretary her whole life's purpose, finally found a way to get back at him. She happily laid down some ground rules. She claimed to be a light sleeper who couldn't handle the sound of footsteps upstairs, telling Chiwan to watch his step. On top of that, she demanded that he couldn't take a shower during dinner rush hour, or else she'd have trouble using the water downstairs.
Yuni's strict rules made Chiwan feel like she was taking revenge. But as a tenant, he couldn't bargain with his landlord.
Chiwan went to work and, for the first time, asked Yuni to help him with a personal errand. Yuni thought her hard work had finally warmed up her cold boss, but it turned out to be related to the quiet hours she had demanded as his landlord the day before. Chiwan purposely gave her a hard time, ordering her to buy a pair of slippers at least three centimeters thick, so he could walk freely on the second floor without bothering his light-sleeper landlord.
Yuni stood there stunned, groaning that she had brought this upon herself. She searched everywhere for three-centimeter-thick slippers that met Chiwan's exact request, running around all day until her legs felt like jelly, and finally found a cute pair to get the job done.
