Chapter 5The Cradle on the Floor

That tyrannical king still watched her with eyes sharper than the blade he pointed at her, forcing the girl to quickly tell the truth.

Anissa was about to cry. She knew she had been too careless. Being able to speak, to write music — these were not the skills of a newborn baby, no matter how much of a genius she was. But she also could not admit she had come here by transmigration. Absolutely could not admit it. She knew that once he confirmed there was someone else in his daughter's body, he would undoubtedly kill her without hesitation.

She was so scared her eyes brimmed with tears. She screamed, asking what the king intended.

The response was only the king's increasingly furious attitude toward Anissa, his eyes wide open, forcing the girl to quickly speak, or else she would have to go sell salt.

Seeing the cold blade getting closer and closer, Anissa was extremely terrified.

With the daughter about to face mortal danger, it was still the empress who rushed over to beg for her life. She was immediately shocked by the barrier, writhing helplessly. Both the royal tutor and Dr. Bowen watched the empress sympathetically.

That vicious king saw his wife get hurt and immediately ran over to support her. He angrily scolded her for being a stupid woman, asking if she wanted to die. But perhaps deep down he truly cared for her. The empress also did not know how to respond to please him. She only knew to open her eyes wide, looking at her husband.

Anissa saw this and her brain short-circuited. The child decided that no matter whether that king really wanted to kill her or not, at least the empress truly loved her. As long as she followed her, she could definitely survive.

Anissa took a deep breath, then mustered her strength to cry loudly.

Hearing her young daughter's cries, the empress immediately shouted, encouraging Anissa not to be afraid, saying she would come save the child right away. The king had no choice but to withdraw the barrier; he did not want the empress to get hurt.

Anissa cried and wailed piteously toward her mother. She was truly very frightened now, and the empress was her only support. The empress held her young daughter tenderly, comforting her.

That ruler knew Anissa had cleverly found someone to rely on. However, he could not easily let this go because of that.

Recalling the previous battle with the Western Country, the king and his troops had accidentally discovered strange creatures. According to his understanding, these creatures had fallen into this country through some method. Moreover, they were also organized and disciplined. Seeing Anissa so abnormal, the king worried she was also a strange creature fallen into his country.

Thinking this, he glanced at the empress, telling her to take care of the child.

Anissa hugged her mother, breathing out in relief, thinking she had finally kept her little life. But that vicious king slightly smirked, saying he would come to the empress tonight, telling her to prepare.

Not knowing his intentions, hearing this, Anissa was scared out of her wits. Could it be he still planned to come and kill her tonight?

The empress was also worried, her face sorrowful, but she had no choice but to obey.

After returning, Anissa obediently acted like a baby, lying in the crib sucking on a pacifier. Beside her was the kind palace maid, chatting. The maid said the princess must be very good tonight, because the king would be visiting the empress. She told Anissa not to disrupt their procreating.

Hearing those words, Anissa was shocked speechless.

Seeing her expression, the maid affectionately stroked the little princess's head. Then she secretly told Anissa that if all went smoothly tonight, the child might get to have a baby brother or sister.

Anissa sat up abruptly, eyes wide open. She looked toward the other side, at the large bed where the empress was sitting, grooming herself and preparing.

If Anissa remembered right, this mother of hers had married this dog king at eighteen. Now she was only twenty-three, yet she had given birth to two princes and three princesses for the royal family. Having so many — would she be okay?

Just then the chamber doors were kicked open violently by a small foot. It was an ill-mannered brat, yelling for three-month-old Princess Anissa to come out and see him.

Seeing the boy, the maid was startled, asking why the second prince had come.

But the naughty child still arrogantly charged toward Anissa where she sat. Magic had already started gathering in his hands. He said he wanted revenge for big brother. The boy blamed Anissa, saying it was because of her that big brother had left him.

Anissa was puzzled, not understanding what was going on. Did she know this big brother the boy spoke of?

But the still-little yet vicious boy had decided to attack. Anissa was suddenly panicked and could only scream in terror.

Hearing the loud commotion, only now did the empress hurriedly run out to check on her daughter.

The cradle had already fallen to the ground. A small trembling hand reached out. Anissa coughed and crawled out, a stream of deep red blood flowing down her forehead.

Anissa felt she was fortunate to have dodged in time. She had not expected a three- or four-year-old child to have such great destructive power. If she had really been hit, if not dead, she would certainly be disabled.

The empress picked up her daughter, heartbrokenly hugging Anissa, tears streaming down. The child also started crying loudly. She had been scared to death just now.

The second prince saw the blood and was shocked. He probably also had not expected the consequences to be so severe. The boy's face showed remorse; obviously his teacher had told him that with his level of magic, he basically could not harm anyone.

The second prince now tremblingly explained to his mother that he had not meant to, and asked with concern if Anissa was okay. The child wailed loudly, wanting to use these actions to make that thug stay away from her. The second prince froze. The boy also had not expected Anissa to be so afraid of him.

The door now opened and someone else entered, a cold voice asking what had happened.

Anissa immediately looked in that direction with grieved eyes. Seeing this, her vicious father just stood there aloof, asking in an icy tone if she was hurt.

Hearing him ask that, Anissa suspiciously touched her forehead. Seeing her hand covered in blood, she was startled, not expecting she really was injured.

Seeing that vicious dog king's piercing gaze and cryptic smile, Anissa was certain he still wanted to kill her. She must not let that happen. She had to think of something.

Assuming his father was asking him, the second prince stepped up, crying, and explained. The empress also could not bear to see the second prince punished, and stood up, taking full responsibility herself.

But he snapped at them to shut up. He reached out suddenly, grabbing Anissa's leg, holding her upside down in the air. Anissa was stunned. The blood on her forehead dripped onto the floor.

That vicious king said: didn't Anissa know how to speak? He kept pressuring her to say what had happened.

And Anissa knew he was still probing her, so she cried loudly. She should keep playing dumb; that would be better. Pretend to have been badly hit, causing brain damage. No longer a prodigy.

Seeing the child wailing hysterically, the king also felt a bit remorseful. Then he hesitated, hugging the child, clicking his tongue, letting it go — since she was crying so hard, he could not ask anything anyway. He would settle this later.

Anissa was extremely pleased. She decided that from now on she would be an ordinary, weak little girl that he could do nothing to.

The dog then asked if it hurt a lot. Then he reached out, poking the wound on Anissa's forehead. She hugged the injury, crying, feeling this lunatic really wanted to hurt her to death.

Only after verifying did he believe Anissa was really in pain. He looked at Anissa, then smiled, saying that if his Anissa was so badly injured, tonight father would sleep with her to take care of her, conveniently.

Hearing this, Anissa shuddered in disgust, pushing him away. She did not want to sleep with this guy at all. She was afraid to sleep with someone so vicious; she might be killed.

The second prince heard that his father wanted to sleep with Anissa and felt wronged. The boy felt very sad that even though he was this old, he had never gotten to sleep next to his father. He saw Anissa vigorously pushing his father away, so the second prince furiously asked what this attitude was.

"Little Anissa, father wants to sleep with you, yet you don't want to? He's never slept with me before, not even once."

After saying those words, the second prince blankly asked if father, and Anissa, could really understand what they were saying at such a young age.

Anissa immediately stopped moving, her face stiffening. She now remembered she was not a genius anymore — just an ordinary baby. She should not understand.

The second prince was right, so she forced an awkward smile, certain that upon seeing father, normal children would react this way. Anissa held out her little arms, mouth smiling, wanting hugs.

This action instantly shot the second prince in the heart. In an instant he felt his previously hated little sister was so adorable.

The king now also smiled. He patted the boy's head, saying next time he would sleep with him; tonight he just wanted to check if this child had any issues. The king coldly told the empress he did not need her service tonight, telling her that if nothing was the matter, she should leave quickly — he and Anissa had to sleep.

The empress had prepared so hard. Now she could only bow her head, obeying, while the maid was heartbroken to the point of breathlessness. Originally she had thought the king came for the empress tonight — who knew the empress had now lost favour?
